I love BelaGrace but I'm (again) a sucker for how you write families in this, mother-daughter relationships, the crazy ahh sisters and even the family-ish bond with the 4 lords and Bela's N°1 hater. Do you have like any headcanons in game but also in your fic (considering we don't have much in game) regarding the sisters relationships, like how they view each other, how often do they bond (I love the fact that in RE8 you can find 3 teacups with blood at the ridge meaning they canonically bond over tea), what do they enjoy together, their shenanigans. Do they gossip ? Do Cass and Dani gossip about Grace ? Hmm thoughts
Ooooh boy howdy do I. I've been debating making a full post about this some time (just a bunch of the RE8 character headcanons I have) and this is an excuse to talk about a bit of that before I perhaps write a full post some time if there's interest.

Disclaimer I have put more thought into The Women because those are the ones who come up in my fics a bunch, but I really truly do Love all the lords. I see Heisenberg mostly hanging out with Donna and Moreau, maybe making Donna garden tools in exchange for her repairing his clothes or making some weird custom part he needs a bit more precision for/a wooden component. He probably bitches at both of them about how annoying Miranda and Lady D are, and Donna is just zoned out nodding along while Moreau is like "HELL YEAH I'M ONE OF THE LADS GETTING THE GOSSIP".
And I feel like Donna and Moreau probably have a bit of an unspoken understanding as the ones who like... hang to the back and don't particularly like being seen. Moreau covers himself unless he needs to go in the water, either for protection from the sun or because he's also not thrilled he became... like that. And I think Donna, with her various hangups and desires to stay covered, could relate to that. I could totally see him bringing her fresh fish or something and her trying to make him a slightly less ugly coat to drape over himself or them weaving fishing nets together when they don't have much going on.
I figure that the lords are still on the religious side of things but like... they know the cult is also there for bringing back Eva, so they're less church-y than the Village (like they respect the mold/Black God stuff but they know very well what's going on in the back end, you know?). A few less pictures of Miranda up on the walls and all that. But I see them gathering for important dates or church events and Miranda trying to lead a sermon while the whole gang is trying not to start a fight in the pews over some nonsense. Bonus points if Lady D drags out her daughters in their sunday best and all three are in the back row trying not to fall asleep because Dani did that once and Miranda bust out a fly swatter.
For the Dimitrescus I have... many thoughts. Enough that I'll point form them for the sake of readability.
They have meals or tea together multiple times a week. Alcina would prefer it be once a day but she's a pretty busy woman with the wine business and the castle and the cult stuff. Tea is the easiest to coordinate, but she's definitely one of those parents trying to get her kids with her at the dining table for a meal and not letting them bail early until everybody is done eating (and then she takes her sweet ass time about it). And I see the girls sharing hunts together, cause they're hungry gals but if you've got a whole corpse that could totally feed 3 swarms of nightmare flies.
As I've mentioned in fics a few times I headcanon the sisters as having been pretty feral when they first woke up, as sure the mold flies were mimicking a human body but learning how to mimic human behavior and speech probably took a bit to figure out. So Alcina's there with three horrible bitey ladies on child leashes while she's trying to teach them what they can and can't eat, and to stop trying to bite each other, and as time went on the lessons changed to things like dance or music or art because she wants them to be a fancy noble family. I think the girls would have been kind of opposed/complainy about it at first but then when they saw Alcina genuinely wanted them to experience things that she no longer could post-cadou making her HUGE then they probably were a lot more willing to play ball.
I see Donna's house as being this place they were kind of scared to go because they knew nothing about her and the waterfall is kicking up a cold mist most days, so it's dangerous for them to get near it. But they probably dared each other to get close/sneak in and then eventually Donna just started leaving a window open once she determined they were just being dumb and not actually trying to harm her. And then from there Donna slowly growing fond of them and the girls growing more protective of her, albeit mostly because she's fun to mess with (at first at least, eventually they probably had more meaningful friendships).
I see the girls as liking to be around each other or Alcina. They were reborn as a set, and then spent their whole lives around Alcina, I don't think any of them know how to be alone without getting restless and antsy. So it wouldn't be uncommon for them to have a shared drawing room or parlour where it would be common to find one or all of the girls doing their own separate work in each other's company, or Alcina being up late one night working and then one or more of her daughters just wanders in and stares like trying to play it cool but wanting attention.
Related to the above I see the girls as really desperately wanting Alcina's approval, so they'll try to outdo themselves/argue about who gets credit for something they did (like how Bela tried to get the credit for finding Ethan even though they all took him down). Meanwhile Alcina is like "Hey. Girls. Plz. I'm your mother I love you all equally. Plz stop throwing things. Goddamn it."
Like many siblings I figure the sisters are arguing over dumb shit constantly but when they need to lock in they're ride or die for each other and will cover for one another. In the games we don't get a ton of voicelines from them about their sisters as each dies, but I kind of imagine that being a panic response of "oh no, Bela got killed, gotta keep the other one safe now.".
tl;dr: I want them to be a happy lil family of serial killers who have dinner and tea together before they go flay somebody.
Now. Miranda is a complicated one. Cause like... game gives us very little to go off of for how she is with the lords other than "happy to let them die when she has her goal". And in my perfect headcanon AU world, I think it's more complicated than that. I think she's fond of them, not necessarily as an actual "mother" (I see that as being more of a religious title for her) but more as the one responsible for them and definitely tired of their antics. She's got limited free time in her day between the village/the cult/the megamycete/her work/the connections/etc so her visits are rare and often scheduled in advance. It's a rare treat (or a sign an experiment ended early and poorly) if she shows up to visit a lord unannounced, and she usually visits Alcina or Donna (because Heisenberg lowkey hates her and moreau's lands are uh. Not the best for playing host. Alcina and Don have nice houses with kitchens for tea and comfy chairs). Alcina is out there trying to convince her to come over more often and she's like "bitch with what time, you and I are the busiest ones here".
In the Hematology AU, Grace is 100% something of a unifying factor for most of the lords, in the sense that she softens all of them (minus Moreau) and gives Miranda more reasons to need/want to talk to the lords. She's an an easy excuse for Miranda to visit, or for the lords to visit her. She's a source of conversation, somebody Miranda is often willing to talk about even if her mood is bad (like trying to get the teacher to tell a story so the lesson ends sooner, you can cut her off on a boring subject by asking how Grace is doing). There's 100% a lot of gossip about her, Alcina and Donna are gossiping about her and Bela's relationship, while Cassandra and Daniela are teasing Bela about her constantly.
Aight those are my initial thoughts, I might make a big post about this some time with headcanons for all the characters in the fics I write. I have... a million thoughts at all times. Thanks for asking!
she turned 5 months about a week ago now. i still feel like she’s very tiny so maybe she’ll hit a growthspurt soon. her coat is definitely coming in though! she is one of the (few?) mudi who didn’t lose her coat in toddlerhood. but she has some really beautiful curls coming in and she’s definitely losing more of her baby fuzz. her coat is so shiny and i love the way it feels, still super soft too.
i still really like her structure. i hadn’t stacked her in a while and honestly i was kinda scared because she’s in the age where puppies start looking real awkward and wonky - but i think she looks nice still. i have high hopes for her structure when she’s grown. i know there isn’t really a guarantee of structure until they’re fully developed but she’s had consistently pretty nice structure since she was like 11wks. show dog show dog
the good:
i absolutely love her. we’ve bonded a lot. she’s so good. when i hang out with her i feel like i’m hanging out with a friend. she really doesn’t make a whole lot of noise. she whines (peeps) sometimes but usually only for the first few minutes that she’s crated and then she settles down. i’ve been sick for the last week-ish and she’s spent a lot more time in her crate than usual and she’s been a CHAMP about it.
she’s so playful, she loves toys, she doesn’t bite my hands or anything she shouldn’t. we just play play play and i love it. she’s so silly too. we don’t play a whole lot of fetch but she basically learned how to fetch naturally (Ava still doesn’t really get it lol). she loves training, she still works happily for kibble but outdoors i usually use actual treats anyway.
she seriously doesn’t have a naughty bone in her body. she learned very early on how to discriminate between her toys and other things that aren’t for her. we just moved so there’s been random shit all over the floor that would be pretty understandable if she confused something on the floor for something she could play with. but she literally hasn’t! her toys even got tangled in some lantern lights we were hanging up and she went and inspected it and pulled her toys out and left it alone lol. i curiously waited to let her inspect it to see what she would do and she impressed me. she’s just so happy and a total people-pleaser so as long as i can communicate what i want she will do that 90% of the time. again, impressive for such a young puppy and i feel really lucky.
she likes other dogs and likes to play with them. she takes a bit to warm up to strangers (human or dog) but once she does she’s silly and happy like always. she’s also had some good play sessions with dogs significantly larger than her so i’m happy about that, since she’s so small.
overall, she’s just so cute and happy and silly. she makes me laugh all the time. we haven’t known each other for that long but i feel like we’ve learned to communicate quite well already.
the we’re-working-on-it:
still kind of working on potty-training. we moved about 3 weeks ago and she’s had a few accidents since then - super understandable because i know it takes a bit for dogs to generalize and especially a puppy who is still getting the hang of potty training. overall i think she’s got a decent grasp of the concept but i think she doesn’t spend enough time in certain parts of the new place to know that they are no-potty-zones. like, i can basically trust her to be out in my office without worrying about an accident, which is nice.
reactivity! she got through her first fear period without too much issue (aside from me fretting over everything constantly) but i think i might’ve mentioned it before - at the beginning of the fear period, she got charged by 2 chihuahua-things who were barking. it really freaked her out and i think some of the (mild) reactivity she still has is kinda from that incident. maybe. idk. but either way, she definitely isn’t really fearful anymore. in certain situations she’ll quietly boof at strangers/strange dogs but sometimes she doesn’t mind them; i’m not really sure what changes between those situations but the fact that it’s not consistent makes me feel better. we got approached by a little dog dragging a child over to us and Lichen was NOT having it, she growled like crazy and postured at the other dog and i told the kid to please stay back. he managed to redirect the dog to the side of us so they stopped approaching. she didn’t seem scared like i’ve seen her before, so i don’t think it’s a super problematic instance especially bc she could’ve been remembering when she got charged when she was a bit younger too. or maybe now she just doesn’t like little dogs approaching her. idk. either way, something to work on but not super alarming and hopefully we will work past it.
i think those are really the only two things we’re working on. other than that she is really lovely. i definitely got the perfect puppy for me and i’m so excited i get to watch her grow <3 also if you read this far i love you
