I found a stash of age stated #VOB #VeryOldBarton. It makes me sad that made up stories about fake news histories, traditions, and straight up lies make it to the shelf label at 40, 60, 80, and excess of $100. VOB used to be available everywhere for 10 to 20$ and carried an age statement so you knew what you were getting. Unfortunately for the brand #1792 needed those stocks to make older whisky and the age statements went the way of the dodo. Hell Barton may be the most allocated thing in Sazerac's entire portfolio. If you see a bottle you know what to do. It's not life changing, but it's what #bourbon should be. VOB is an honest pour for an honest price and that all we can ask for in a world of made up distilleries, that don't even own a still. We toured the Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, KY. They shared every step of the bourbon distillation process. . Very Old Barton isn't available nationwide, but we love the taste and value. It is our favorite 3-6 year aged bourbon. . Our dog visiting the rickhouses at @Barton1792. . Barton 1792 was the 13th Distillery that we visited on the @KentuckyBourbonTrail. Located in the heart of town and best known for 1792 and Very Old Barton, the iconic @SouthernComfort will also soon be distilled in Bardstown, the Bourbon Capital of the World. . This was an impromptu stop, and ended up being one of our best stops (it was my wife's favorite). The staff within the Visitors Center was so friendly, and they even suggested that we visit a little park area that rests between the Distillery and the rick houses. The park features the World's Largest Bourbon Barrel and was a nice space for our dog to wonder the grounds. After visiting the park, we drove around the rick houses and got to see some barrels being pulled for bottling. Overall, it really felt like this was the closest we got to the action in a natural environment. Similar to @BuffaloTrace, Barton 1792 is not among the 10 official Distilleries on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail (@SazeracRye owns both Buffalo Trace and Barton 1792).
