RE: The Steve Nazi thing. Aside from being so unappealing, can we take a moment to appreciate the sheer stupidity of Hydra making a super soldier whose main career has been wiping out Hydra? Like what kind of collateral damage budget do you HAVE, Hydra? "Sir, he seems to have killed all of our agents, should we do something?" "No Heinz, wait this out. I promise it will pay off in 70 years."

It’s because Marvel has made us all forget how to trust.

Lol it's true that Marvel screws up everything, but we're two-thirds of the way into Agent Carter, and the writing has been consistent so far. They've made it pretty clear that Sousa's Peggy's potential love interest, and they've continued to create moments between him and Peggy to back that up even throughout this week's episode. If Thompson was the guy that they were going for, they didn't have to put any of those scenes in unless they want to do some "poor Sousa being left behind" thing which wouldn't even make sense because Peggy and Sousa aren't an item or on the brink of becoming one and Sousa hasn't blatantly expressed his romantic interest in her yet. And again, there's the whole thing with the CA:TWS scene I mentioned. That might be retconned, but I highly doubt it since Markus and McFeely wrote CA:TWS and have explicitly stated that they're very involved with Agent Carter.

There's also the fact that even though Thompson and Peggy have come to an understanding and have started to build the very beginnings of mutual acknowledgement of each other, Thompson's still a sexist pig. Maybe he'll refrain from or at least cut back on his sexist comments towards Peggy, but that won't change his stance on women in general or at least it'll be a long time before he unlearns all that. Peggy's intelligent, and I think she knows that about Thompson; she might acknowledge his value as a fellow agent, but I don't think she sees them becoming BFFs anytime soon. To be honest, from what I've seen of them, it seems more likely that they'll develop an understanding of each other and some level of mutual respect as colleagues or if Thompson behaves and sees the error of his ways, possibly even friendship rather than just a professional work relationship.

In the end, I don't think she'd be attracted to him anyway even if he changes. Even though it's not his fault that his story got out of control, he doesn't do anything to correct it or prevent that from snowballing (even though you get why because you see how much shame and self-loathing he has over this). He even continues to hide behind that bravado and that image he's equally gained and constructed after getting back from Russia and well, Peggy's not one for someone who hides behind anything. Look at Steve and the way he owns his physical weaknesses even before the serum. Look at how Sousa doesn't let himself wallow in self-pity and let his leg get in the way of doing his job.

Oh and there's also the fact that there are only three more episodes (noooooo T_T) and that the showrunners themselves have been acting coy when asked about Sousa possibly being Peggy's future husband and saying there's a big moment between Sousa and Peggy in the finale in their AMA! So yeah, I don't think there's really any need to worry about this. :D The chance of Thompson becoming the future husband is pretty much close to nil, but hey, maybe I'll be proven wrong in the next few weeks.
