Yami
Yami had heard your father’s name many times enough to recognize it, as well as was perfectly aware of his reputation.
But still, he was somehow unable to draw the connection between the two of you. Because the chances of you two begin related, and so closely related, just didn’t seem… like something that would happen. It was more so about him thinking that he wouldn’t meet anyone who was related to his, dare he say, idols.
Though your father wasn’t exactly an idol of his, but Yami still did have a healthy deal of respect for your father even before meeting him.
And sure enough, when it came time to introduce the two in the living life, they had a lot to talk about. Though Yami used his magic to a great length, he wasn’t a stranger to non-magic using attacks, being a swordsman himself. Thus, there was a lot to learn and to discuss.
Perhaps it wasn’t a surprise that Yami and your father even wound up into a friendly brawl amongst each other… at times… They were always in good spirit, and it was good for them to be on such good terms with each other, but... you had to admit, that sometimes you found yourself shaking your head, because they were at it again.
But, more of then than not, it made you smile. Because the knowledge that he was getting along, more than well, with your family, made you happy in a way you never knew.
Nozel
Nozel… he had perhaps heard your father’s name in passing, but couldn’t really connect it to anything. After all, cagefighting wasn’t a particular interest of his, and thus the name meant nothing to him. And sure, he might have seen news, images of your father winning an important match, but those too, had slipped by him.
Your last name, it was just your name; no connections to it.
It wasn’t until you mentioned it that he became aware of the fact that your father was indeed quite famous, even if he thought that… it was rather… brutish fame. And to fight with no magic, such foolishness. If you’re able to use mana, then why use anything other than mana? Why indeed…
But. He was your father, and he wanted to get along, thus, he thought to spare his thoughts for later. Until they had established some kind of a speaking relationship, after that they could perhaps converse about it.
Or that was the plan, had your father not brough it up during the first meeting, asking what Nozel thought about someone like him, who preferred to fight with his physique instead of magic.
And Nozel, he thought that he might just as well be honest. So, he told your father that it wasn’t something he could hold in high value, because mana enabled people to do great things.
Which wasn’t surprising to your father. In fact, he had been planning on asking Nozel for a brawl ever since you told him that you two had begun dating.
And Nozel, he scoffed, but accepted the request for a brawl, ending up in a lock under the entir body weight of your father in a blink of an eye.
“That’s your issue pretty boy, you overlook things that don’t fit your view of the world,” your father growled at him, before letting go. Which resulted into Nozel ruffling his feathers, but… with some imploring gazes from you, and assurances of this staying between you, he stood down.
Not the… best possible first meeting, but it taught all of you something. And… it wasn’t much, but it was a start. But, it seemed like the two, Nozel and your father, were trying to understand each other, which, quite frankly, was all that you could ask for. So, with time, you were certain that they’d grow better acquainted.
Rhya
Rhya hadn’t really been interested in human customs, especially such as ‘cagefighting’. What was it even about? Just a couple of people put in a cage and told to fight? With their fists? What was the point? Sounded awfully tiring.
He just didn’t get it. Fighting just for the sake of fighting. But maybe it was a human thing, he didn’t really know.
But. He had fallen in love with you, a human, and thus it was, or he supposed that it was, with some advice from his peers, important for him to learn to understand your world as well. And, as a part of that, he needed to meet your parents, including your father.
His fame wasn’t of particular interest to Rhya either, but he seemed a nice enough person. And after making some small talk, he had to ask your father about what was the whole deal about cagefighting.
And your father didn’t really have an answer. He was able to talk about how he liked it, how it was something he could do, and how it taught him things nobody who relied solely on magic could learn. But he wasn’t able to say what precisely was it about cagefighting that had made him wind up to the position he was in.
Rhya, he listened, thinking that there seemed to be more to it than he had first thought, but it also sounded laboursome. But then again, many things seemed laboursome to him.
So, what he chose to take from the meeting, was that your father was a really decent guy, and that was enough for him.
Vetto
Vetto was, and had been as his true self, always a peaceful person. Fighting hadn’t… been his thing. He just wanted to care for every living creature in the world, so something like… fighting as a sport, which your father had made into a profession, seemed… strange to him.
Perhaps he could say that it sounded somewhat human, since the elves didn’t have such things. But he didn’t, because he didn’t want to hurt you. Even if he had to ask about it from you; more precisely, what kind of a person your father was, because Vetto was imagining a rather crude person.
And you understood it, because the title and the fame, being a cagefighter, did bear a kind of a stigma in people’s minds. But your dad really was a nice person; all it took was giving him a chance.
Which Vetto thought was only fair. Because, hey, even bears could look intimidating and scary, but if you take the time to get to know them, they’re nice and cuddly. Though maybe making the comparison wouldn’t have… been the best thing to do, it gave him a different kind of mindset while going into the meeting.
And sure enough, he found out that your father really was a straight up guy. He didn’t exactly beat around the bush, but he was nice and polite. He wanted to get along with Vetto. Which was all Vetto really needed.
Maybe they could learn from each other. Grow closer and find common ground. It certainly seemed more than possible.
Fuego
Fue had heard mentions off your father, and perhaps in the right context he would have been able to draw the connection. Mostly because Mereo had talked about the craze of cagefighting at times, not that he himself really understood the fascination. But. He didn’t need to understand it necessarily either.
However, when you mentioned it, he let out a thoughtful hum, but deemed it to be not a big deal. After all, he would have been a hypocrite to think that your father, being a cagefighter, would somehow been an unpleasant person just because of that, since he knew Mereo-aneue to seem like an unpleasant person, and perhaps she was to some, but she was also caring.
Even if he knew Mereo to denounce such claims, should he voice them.
Thus, he thought that it’d be better to simply meet your father in order to get to know him. After all, professions and titles were one thing, but being someone as a person were a completely other. He, if anyone, knew as much.
So, he met with your father, giving polite greetings and making small talk, which eventually developed into a proper discussion. Sure, they had their differences, but they were both reasonable and were able to talk them out.
Though you weren’t really sure what you were expecting from them meeting each other, given how they were both well grounded, this… this was much better. It sounded like Fue was even learning about alternative types of fighting, which he might or might not be able to utilize in some manner.
It certainly was much better than you could have hoped for.
