after struggling with the deadbolt for an entire ten minutes, violet was a little distracted. that’s why she almost didn’t notice the person that seemed to be coming towards the cinema. pity tinged at the back of her throat, but she put on a never-caring smile. “ i’m sorry,” both her smile and her tongue said. “we’re closed for the night, did you leave some keys or something?” she recognized the loiterer, because of course she did. maybe they went to school together, or they’ve been to the same clubs. she couldn’t quite put her finger on it in the dark. that damned street lamps been broken for weeks now. her father says the mayor must have much more important matters to attend to. whenever he says that violet can taste the venom in his words.
Reza looked up where he was, with cigarette dangling from his lips as he was about to lit it up, leaning against the wall of the theatre. “Nope,” he answered after a moment, plumes of white smoke escaped his lips as he did so. His lips curled into a sort of smile as he transferred his cigarette from his lips to between his fingers. “Still tryna convince you to let me borrow your dad’s fancy yacht.” His opinion on the girl was biased simply because of who her father was, and he wasn’t about to change his opinion anytime soon. No matter how much she denied it, she was still part of the wealthy and as such, enjoyed the privilege that came with it.
