Honestly, it's hilarious how, for the last few weeks, Bluesky has been bragging how most of the codebase is now made with Claude, which is vibecoding with generative AI, and how that is so awesome!
And now the site keeps stumbling and crashing.
Looks like bad vibes for the vibecoding.
Asking Claude to make a change to the code it generated, discovering that the change I requested actually won't work as intended when Claude came up with a clever workaround that technically fulfilled my request, then sheepishly telling Claude "oh I didn't think of that, I guess it makes sense to go back to the previous way then". I feel kinda bad about wasting Claude's time and effort.
Serious question: With how much AI coding is threatening the number of computer science jobs available, is there still any point in going to university, or is there little left they can offer in terms of stable upwards mobility anymore?
AI is a powerful tool in the hands of experienced devs. 👩🏻💻Think about how much boilerplate you write. AI will obey conventions if you tell it to and keep a close eye on it. I DO NOT think of this as vibe coding. My daily work has shifted much more towards orchestration and architecture than actually writing code. I review everything it does. Sometimes it gets stuck and I step in and that’s fine.🚀
