Today is MahaShivRatri. Mahashivratri is one of the largest and most significant among the sacred festival nights of India. This – the darkest night of the year – celebrates the Grace of Shiva, who is considered the Adi Guru or the First Guru, from whom the yogic tradition originates. The planetary positions on this night are such that there is a powerful natural upsurge of energy in the human system. There were times when I heard students have “yoga high” in my classes, I was happy, but I might be wrong. It may be slightly different from what we should expect from practicing yoga. (26.42). Excitements are going to go away. We should not search for those “highs”, because if you are just looking for those “highs”, then you are trading in the addicted minds for yoga so you are only going to search for the next fantastic experience.
