Hi there! I'm taking your latest post as an excuse to ask you about vibroblades. My oc isn't the blaster type of person and right off the bat I thought a sword would be the most fitting for them but wasn't sure if there was an option except for lightsabers. Turns out there are actually vibroswords which are like the name implies a type of vibroblade! Do you know any more about vibroswords or have any thoughts on swords in SW? :'))

Oooh ok! So vibroblades are both utility devices and personal weapons, though we really only see them used as the latter I think. They’re basically regular blades except they buzz thanks to the ultrasonic vibration generator (normally stored in the hilt of the weapon) which means getting hit by one is going to hurt like a bitch. They deal a WHOLE lotta damage, even off of glancing blows, but if your character is going to be up against a lot of electrical wielding opponents (like Magnaguards), I strongly advise against them. That can result in a hand getting blown off thanks to the overload of the vibroblade’s energy cell

At some point they were resistant against lightsabers though this has since been retconned. If you want a blade that’s resistant to lightsabers, get a cortosis weave (it won’t deactivate a lightsaber because it’s not in its pure form, but it also reinforces the blade and allows for parrying). Granted, Cortosis isn’t super common, so universe wise, it’s pretty expensive and rare rip, but you could probably argue that they snatched it off the black market. Aside from that, there are a handful of other mods, one of my favorites being the sonic discharge cell. I don’t wanna ramble too much, but it has a wookiee page if you’re interested ^^

Variants for vibroweapons include the vibrodagger, vibroknucklers, vibrostaff, vibroaxe plus uhhh some other stuff. As a general note, they’re very versatile and popular as weapons. Commandos use vibroswords

For other melee weapons, there’s also the electro sword, electrostaff, gaffi sticks (Boba uses one, they’re made by the Tuskens), plus some other stuff, it really depends on your character. Vibroweapons are the most common and accessible though, so I recommend them for really any character, whether as a primary weapon or a secondary one.

Would a lightsaber bayonet be possible/viable (given that the gun it's attached to is made of lightsaber-resistant materials)?

Normally you would have a knife or a vibroblade attached to the barrel of the rifle, but there’s no reason you couldn’t replace that with a laser knife. (You couldn’t have a lightsaber—it would be much too long—but a short plasma weapon would be fine.) However, I don’t expect it would be necessary for the rifle to be made of a lightsaber-resistant material as the blade should never touch the barrel, especially because that technology tends to be very expensive.
