The way that Tessa is struggling and uncertain about motherhood and she's so isolated--Evie can't comprehend how being a mother is difficult for her, and Del and Colton have their own young baby (plus Fern who speaks in riddles) to worry about.
The tragedy of Vic wanting so badly to be a father and hating that he has to go to work instead of spending all his time with Elliot and Tessa, and the tragedy of him seeing that Tessa is struggling, but not knowing what to do, looking for advice when even with the best advice Tessa is already past the point of needing a little friendly support.
And then there's Griff, who sees Tessa and was smitten from the moment he laid eyes on her, and he doesn't have the same commitments that the rest of them do, he's always wandered freely. He's the only one of them in a position to be there for her the way she needs, but he can't be there for her in a completely appropriate way. He's too in love with her and he's not her husband.

Um HELLO Del defending Elliot in front of Vic??????
I am struggling (refusing) to believe parts of "Auld Lang Syne;"
I don't believe that Tessa and Griffon were having an affair. He clearly has feelings for her, but she was so quick to tell Elliot that she was not running from Vic when she jumped, and she's so clearly out of it the day of that party. She doesn't seem like a woman who has the capacity to have an affair, she's just tired and unsure and Griff sees that she's struggling and tries to be there for her (in a way that her other friends either haven't or can't).
And Grayson Goodwin? I don't believe that man is as innocent as he appears. I don't believe that he was as willing to let Fern fall in love with Cliff as he claims. I don't know what he did but I'm sure he did something (and I would still love to be proven wrong on that front).
And I can't believe that Elliot is dead! He's not! It's not happening! Fern seemed to know that Elliot could reasonably be alive after the explosion, so he's going to live! He must!
