At this point, I should just do all of them 😅😆I would like to do Main Stage this time, if I may~? Of course, I would like to paired with the King-Dabi- and the song choice for this one might be interesting? Never Stop by Slaydit.
Sure! The song is pretty cool, I had a lot of fun writing this one
Pairing: Dabi x GN Reader
Warnings: violence, cursing, mentions of death and that should be it
Rain pattered against the sidewalk as you ran down the street. The city was alive even in the stormy weather. Clashes of rain boots stomped against the puddles forming, The lights of neon signs and ads basked everybody into an array of colors.
You would’ve found it beautiful if Dabi wasn’t about to die.
You couldn’t care less at the people you crashed into. All you could focus on was your heart hammering against your rib cage. All of the advertisements in the city shifted to the news. Around you people gasped, you didn’t need to read it to know who it was about.
That idiot. What made him think he could take on Endeavor? You gritted your teeth. You were so close, you had to get to him in time, you had to. Quickly, you fished out your phone and dialed your emergency number without looking. You jolted at the first ring silently pleading that he would pick up. At the second ring your hands began to shake.
What if he didn’t pick up? What would you do? What could you do? There both had quirks and you didn’t, was there a way to stop him before--
“What is it?”
You let out a sigh of relief at Kuroguri’s voice. Thank goodness.
“Kuroguri,” you breathed. “I need you to locate Dabi, it’s urgent!”
You heard him speak to you softly, but you couldn’t hear it over the sound of people screaming and the police sirens flashing you. They bathed you in red and blue while you continued your pursuit. It took months just to get close to him, you weren’t about to let him leave that easily. Your mind cut back to before he left.
He turned to you with a soft smile, the staples only pulling a little at his face. He looked like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. You didn’t understand, he was supposed to grab groceries and he would be back soon. Even still, when you offered to go with him, to help him he shook his head.
“I wish you could doll,” he admitted. You were taken aback to say the least. Normally he’d tease you about wanting to spend time with him, this sounded sad. It sounded like a goodbye. As soon as the thought came up you dismissed it. There was no way he’d leave. He still had to expose fake heroes.
You were about to say something when you were pulled into a hug. Dabi’s body heat crashed into yours as he held you tightly. It brought tears to your eyes, it was like he didn’t want to let you go with the way he gripped your shirt. You held him just as tightly. You wished you could take away his pain.
“Stay safe,” he said, “hero.” With that he pulled away and left you standing at the door in shock.
You shook the thoughts away. You could question Dabi later the only thing that mattered right now was finding him. Your legs ache while your lungs burn for air. It made you think about Dabi, if he was burning himself right now. You flinch, you need to stop thinking.
A crowd of people ahead of you causes you to stop, you try to look at what’s happening only to find people blocking your path. You shove your way through the crowd.
You hear variations of “Get him Endeavor!” and “He’s getting up!” Your stomach twists. You fight the sea of people faster than you’ve done anything in your life. They push back against you and at one point you fall, but you refuse to give up.
Eventually you get to the front of the crowd where police are pushing the crowd back. Your eyes widen at the scene ahead of you. Orange flames are rising off of Endeavor. He’s looking down at a crumpled body in front of him with his shoulders pulled back and his face high. You can’t see his eyes, but you can tell the only thing that lies there is disdain.
Your body reacts on it’s own, you move to get in front of Dabi who’s holding onto his side. His hair is covering his face while he focuses on the ground. He looks so small compared to the hero. Your shoved back into the crowd before you can even take a step forward it was as if the man knew you were going to move.
“Stay back!” The officer ordered you. His hat was damp from the rain and his voice was loud. You were fighting against him.
“Let me through!” You shouted, almost hysterical. “I need to get through, I need to see him!” You struggled more when he used more force to put you back into the crowd.
“You can’t.” He cupped your shoulder forcing you to look at him. His eyes gleamed in the light, he was serious, but you could see fear in them. “Believe me this is not a fight you want to get in the middle of.”
You shook your head. “I have to,” you looked directly into the man’s eyes with determination you thought was taken out long ago. “I love him.”
The man looked at you then back at Endeavor and Dabi with a sigh. Taking that as a distraction, you shoved him out of the way and rushed to the two. Time seemed to slow, you screamed Dabi’s name. You needed to protect him, to save him. You needed to. That was when you felt the heat of flames on the side of your body facing Endeavor. It was one of his famous attacks, Prominence Burn. You heard screaming from behind you, but all you could focus on was the orange flames dancing closer towards you.
This is it, you thought. I’m going to die. Flashes of memories with the league filled your vision. You were going to miss them and you hoped they’d forgive you. You were about to shut your eyes when something crashed into you.
Hitting the ground with a soft thud you groaned in pain.
“You have to be the dumbest person I’ve ever met, what the hell are you doing?!” Dabi’s blue eyes bore into yours. You lost your breath, relief swelled through you until you realized what that meant. You turned your attention to where “Dabi” was kneeling earlier only to find a puddle. Oh. Oops.
“Uh, saving you?” You stated but it came out as more of a question. The response took Dabi off guard with the way his eyes widened before his lips crashed onto yours.
“Idiot,” he said, but there was no malice to it. The familiar heat of fire flared behind the two of you, but it didn’t matter. Kuroguri already opened the portal out from under you. You smiled, cupping his face.
“Yup, that’s me.”
He scoffed at your response, leaning into your touch more. So you overreacted and panicked, who doesn’t? Staring at Dabi now, you didn’t care if the league made fun of you or chewed you out for possibly ruining the mission. After all, they should’ve told you about this one in the first place.
“I love you,” he rushed out, holding you closer than before. “You know that, right?”
You couldn’t help the soft smile that fell onto your face. “I know, and I love you too.”
