If the prompt pleases you: how do you think fenris felt after attacking hawke in the fade? We see his apology in the game, but I suppose his guilt is a lot bigger than what he let us see... He did say he was disturbed by how easily he was played by demons and he already had a horrible similar experience when he betrayed the Fog Warriors, so how bad would you say turning on Hawke hit him?
Ok, so I scrolled through all 58(????) pages of my writing tag because I know I’ve written about this scene before and I wanted to link to it/write a continuation to that specific drabble, but I couldn’t find it. I know it’s there.
This is very short, and very late. I hope it’s ok anyway.

Hawke told him he was forgiven.
It wasn’t his fault. He didn’t have control over hisactions. The demon – the demon had offered him everything he had ever wanted.Hawke understood that. Hawke knew it would be too much to resist. Hawke forgave him.
Fenris was less merciful of himself.
The alcohol burned its way down his throat, scorching his aching chest. It wasn’t the sweetness of Fenris’s preferred wine which graced his tongue, but whiskey - Hawke’s drink, the color of his eyes. Once, Fenris had known the taste of it on the mage’s mouth. The way Hawke would smile, and lean in toward him, all his hard edges blurred by drink. Each time Fenris lifted his glass, his gaze was caught by the red around his wrist. It seemed accusatory, shameful, a momento of happiness he should never have experienced. Hethrew Hawke’s love away – then he betrayed him. He hadn’t deserved a secondchance – much less whatever number chance he was on now.
A part of Fenris knew that Hawke would love him until theend of his days. That was the worst part.
As much as Fenris hoped otherwise – as much as he wantedHawke to find the kind of happiness he deserved – a part of him suspected thatthe man would always be just there, unobtrusively waiting, those amber eyesfull of nothing but Fenris. It would hurt him to see Hawke move on. Fenris wanted to experience that hurt. It was what he deserved, to watch the love of his life with another. To see the smile Hawke had once reserved for him, cast upon a more deserving face. Fenris had earned that kind of punishment. He could understand justice that cruel.
Hawke had forgiven him.
Hawke would wait.
Hawke was a fool.
