Reverb on a drum solo intro is a brave move but damn if it doesn’t get my attention. Filthy, downtuned bass fuzzing up a rhythm before the guitar melody sounding like tiny droplets of serendipitous tranquility raining down. Rhythm guitar comes in and somehow manages to gel with the fuzz filled bass guitar. Together it makes a stupidly large Cheshire cat inducing grin across the whole face. This is an empty road ahead of me with nothing behind me. Just the feeling of moving forward on a roadtrip with no plans at all.
Drums gently pounding forwards and suddenly big fat guitar comes in to make a statement. Tell me something, are you lost when you’ve found your way? For the longest time I never knew what this meant and maybe now I do. Sure I am lost on my way but who honestly cares? I’m on my way. The singer doesn’t feel the same way and warns not to listen to him. In fact he feels no sorrow, no hate, feels nothing at all. Been there too. Ain’t there now. The same feeling of being lost when you found your way and two different reactions. For me I have a big stupid grin and on my face just feeling happy I found my way. Who cares if I am lost despite that? I got my tunes, a journey to undertake and the sounds of a roadtrip driving me forward. Ever tightening guitar riffs and drums keep on building and I am just lost in that flow of sound, eyes closed and enjoying where Vidage are taking me.
Being lost here is just the absence of a map. Found my way and now the excitement of discovery outweighs the feeling nothing at all. The past has no hold when you barreling forward at 100 miles per hour and just vibing to the flow that comes from forward momentum. Thanks for warning me not to listen to everyone who comes in with an opinion and thanks for making such a tight closing composition that just clears my head of everything and lets me stay totally in the moment. Fantastic track.
