@ijichi-nijikabugu please explain this video to me
Who wants to see me ramble on about my Service Dog problem? My previous trainer dropped out essentially doubling the cost of my new trainer. So that’s a thing.
I know you've probably answered this before but I'm not well versed in the specific types of dinosaurs and a lot of the jargon here but if birds are dinosaurs and dinosaurs are birds does that include dinosaurs like triceratops? Those can't be birds, right? (also if you could link to/provide an easy-to-understand page with definitions for some of the more specific scientific words you use I would really appreciate it thank u)
Oh dude I”m so sorry okay so
- Basically if you define birds as “modern dinosaurs and their most recent common ancestor and all the descendents of that ancestor” then birds are Neornithes
- If you define birds as “archaeopteryx and all dinosaurs more closely related to archaeopteryx than troodon” then birds are Avialae
- If you define birds as “the first dinosaur that achieved powered flight and all of its descendents” then its probably Ornithothoraces
- If you define birds as “organisms with filamentous structures made out of the feather protein” aka organisms with protofeathers then its probably Ornithodira
- If you define birds as “organisms with pennaceous (barbed) feathers” then it’s Pennaraptora
- If you define birds as “organisms with pennaceous feathers and the genome size required for flight’ then its Paraves
Only one of those definitions includes all of Dinosauria and that’s the 4th one
No one uses the 4th one
Don’t worry Triceratops is not a bird
Essentially, we really don’t know what exactly is the group that is definitely only birds, BUT, we DO know at the least that all birds are dinosaurs.
Cool?
Cool :)
So in the end what you truly know is that you don’t know shit. Of course that will never stop you from trying to figure it all out. Isn’t that the beautiful thing? That you can never know it all and there is always something new you can learn from yourself and others. The only constant in your life is yourself. You just have to get to know that person.
