How do you put your comics together?

I do a rough sketches of how the panels should look. I already have pages and dialogue for 7-12 planned. Sometimes I veto frames, so the flow works better. I then look up references I need online. Sometimes it’s exact reference. Other times I need to tweak it or I just draw from my imagination. The bottom portion I didn’t use reference. 

Why do you do this comic?

I want practice showing sequential artwork, I need more practice drawing full figures within a scene, I want practice working with my iPad, and I love Inuyasha and there needs to be more romance between them! ;) I also want a more realistic version of their story. She is a human running around with a half demon/immortal. In my version she is a bit older and will have more practical clothing and game plan for fighting demons. 

How long does a page take you?

This one took me roughly 6-8 hours. That’s with all the formatting for the speech bubbles, gathering ref, etc. It also had more “going on” than my previous pages. 

Why can’t we get pages fast?! I’m a full time illustration freelancer, so this personal project is an indulgence that brings in zero income, lol. Time is money. I do this for fun. Wish I could get it out faster, but 1 page a week is all I can schedule right now. I already have chapter 2 planned too. Maybe when I take some time off I can get a bunch of pages done :). That won’t be till later in the year though.  • Keep me going! Buy the artist a coffee? ☕️
