WAND Ash wood, acromantula web, 21½ cm, rigid. Lux bought it from Ollivander when she was ten. Ash wands are incredibly loyal to their original owners and can not change allegiance. If they are passed on or gifted, they lose power and skill. An old saying goes as follow: “rowan gossips, chestnut drones, ash is stubborn, hazel moans.” While it isn’t necessarily true for all wands, it tends to verify with ash wands. Witches and wizard that are best suited to ash wands aren’t prone to changing their minds and are actually quite headstrong. The ideal owner of an ash wand may be stubborn, and will certainly be courageous, but never crass, nor arrogant. Lux’s wand is especially powerful when it comes to Transfiguration. Acromantula web as a core is rather unusual but still used. If it makes for capricious wands and take a while to be tamed, paired with ash wood, it accentuates the loyalty the wand feels toward its owner and strengthened its owner’s skills.

Lux was born in Merlin’s Vale (England), on the 12th of September, 1980. She is the youngest child of Charles and Pamela Astor. She has an older brother, Nyx, born ten years before her. Her father descends from an old American pureblood family of scholars who moved to England during Grindelwald's reign of terror. As for Pamela, she is a Greengrass, and thus descends from one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight. Lux is cousins with Daphne and Astoria Greengrass but they generally avoid each others.
Her mother, an ambitious witch who is obsessed with appearances and the wizarding elite, has always put a lot of pressure on Lux. While Nyx followed in his father's footsteps, Pamela wanted to shape her daughter as she pleased. Lux's rebelious tendancies, however, didn't really match with her mother's hope and it created a lot of tension within the Astor-Greengrass household. Lux has always thought that the only reason her mother even bothered with her was because of her friendship with Gabriel. Unlike the Notts, Pamela prays for a wedding between their two children.
Hogwarts has always been a big thing for Lux. For the longest time she has dreamt of the day she would get away from her mother for the better part of the year and leave a mark on the Ravenclaw house like her brother and her father before her. Things don't always happen like Lux wants them to, however. Often seen as the black sheep of the family, Lux hoped that being sorted into Ravenclaw would prove once and for all that she wasn't so different. Getting sorted into Gryffindor was hard to accept at first but with the help of Julian and Adelia, Lux eventually embraced it. While it worsened her realtionship with her parents, and especially her mother, it also helped Lux grow into the woman she now is. Today, she is very intense when it comes to House pride, despite the fact that her group of friends is made of people from every house, and her best friend is a Slytherin. She gets along with everyone in her house and is very involved in the Quidditch team despite not being a part of it. Her favourite teams are the Holyheads Harpies and the Paris Princes.
For as long as she can remember, Lux has always wanted to become an alchemist. For her, alchemy is the highest form of magic so of course she wants to master it. Lux likes to know and understand things. Especially when it comes to things that seem especially mysterious and hard to explain, like muggle culture. Along with Potions and Transfiguration, Muggle studies is her favourite subject. If she is pretty good in all those subjects, she particularly shines in Transfiguration. McGonagall has promised to train her to become an animagi once Lux will be done with school.
HOGWARTS YEARS
Year #1
Lux is sorted into Gryffindor. She meets Adelia, Nova, Julian, and Ezra. Anya takes her under her wing. She starts sharing her dorm with Hermione, Lavender, and Parvati. (I realize that Lux is technically too young to start Hogwarts at ten but that’s because I’m an idiot who didn’t think about that when I started to write VIGD. My explanation is that since Lux’s father works for the department of education and she was born in early September, she got special treatment :D)
Year #2
Lux befriends Ginny. She doesn't believe that Harry is the heir of Slytherin but avoids him, like the rest of the school. She spends most year playing a game of Guess Who and trying to reassure Anya and Julian who, as muggle borns, are terrified. She starts developping a crush on Ash.
Year #3
The rivalry between Nova and Kai begins. Because of Sirius Black, Lux starts getting interessed in History of Magic. With Anya, she introduces Valentina, Nyx, and Selene to the rest of the group. She begins studying Muggle Studies and Arithmancy.
Year #4
Lux goes to the Quidditch World Cup finale with Valentina, Selene, Nyx, Anya, Ezra, and Julian. She believes Harry when he says he didn't put his name in the Cup and roots for him from the start. It leads to her fighting with Nova, Sage, and Adelia for the first time. She tells Ash that she likes him but he tells her he likes Adelia. Ezra asks her to the Yule Ball and they grow closer because of that.
Year #5
Lux is one of the rare people who believe Harry and Dumbledore. Hermione asks her (as well as Anya and Julian) to come to the first DA meeting. They bring Ezra and Gabriel. They all agree to keep the others in the dark but Julian still invites Nova. Lux isn't too pleased. Her realtionship with Nova and Adelia gets worst. Following Nyx's orders to not do anything that could upset Umbridge more, Lux doesn't go to the Ministry of Magic.
Year #6
Lux and Ezra are now inseparable. She starts to neglect her other relationships, especially her friendship with Gabriel who is never here anyway. All year, she tries to make it up to Harry, Ron, and Hermione. When Ron and Hermione asks for her help the night of Dumbledore's murder, she agrees immediately. She discovers that Nyx and Selene have joined the Order and wants in.
PERSONALITY
The best way to describe Lux is "all over the place." She's stubborn, reckless, proud, and impulsive. To top that, she has a rather short temper that makes her someone easily angered and snappy. She's curious, easily interested in the people that surround her and what they have to say. That also means that she can just as quickly lose interests in them. Despite the fact that she tends to be overly critical of others (and that she has a double-standards mentality) she is fun to be around and quite sociable. She loves attention and praises. She is also hardworking and fights hard for everything that she cares about.
