⁣ Canon EOS 250D | 62mm | 1/200s | f/18 | ISO 100⁣ Taken on 27/01/2021.⁣ ⁣ The wine-producing Monferrato area offers many trekking itineraries and countless easy walks that are perfect for those who aren't yet ready for a challenging outing.⁣ ⁣ The walk I did on the day I took this photo started from Cuccaro Monferrato and finished at Vignale Monferrato. I took me a couple of hours as I often stopped to take in the incredible landscapes.⁣ ⁣ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲:⁣ ⁣ You can get to Cuccaro Monferrato and Vignale Monferrato by bus with the company 'Autostradale'. ⁣ Canon EOS 250D | 135mm | 1/160s | f/20 | ISO 100⁣ Taken on 09/05/2020.⁣ ⁣ Monferrato is an area to the east of Piedmont made up of soft rolling hills, world-famous wine and charming medieval villages like Vignale Monferrato.⁣ ⁣ Set in the heart of Monferrato, Vignale Monferrato is a precious jewel of historical heritage thanks, in part, to the 'infernot': dark, airless underground spaces carves out in stone that are located beneath houses and cellars which, in some instances, are real underground tunnels.⁣ ⁣ These works of arts, carved and modelled by artists, were either used to store bottles of wine or as pantries because the temperature inside them remains constant.⁣ ⁣ Several of these old ‘infernot’ are open for public viewing, especially during the ‘vendemmia’ (grape harvest) or on special occasions. If you feel like sampling some wine, you’ll be spoilt for choice in Vignale Monferrato and other hamlets nearby like Frassinello Monferrato, Cella Monte and Rosignano Monferrato.⁣ ⁣ Even if you aren't a wine connoisseur, Monferrato is a land rich in meticulously ploughed hills that glow in the sunshine—at times resembling the hilly Tuscan area of Val d'Orcia.
