Bad date⎢OPEN!
“Well, well. If it isn’t Cinderella.”
Axel came to a slow stop, tucking his phone away. Now that Xion was home safe and found, he could afford to be slightly annoyed.
“I thought we agreed that you’d check in,” he said - and then cringed at his own parental tone. He worried about the girl, that was all.
Upon closer inspection, Axel realized that something seemed…off. Or, at least, Xion didn’t look happy. Maybe he should have given her some kind of warning beforehand. “The thing is, Xion, men can be real pricks…”
But certainly big-sis Larxene had done the honors?
“I...We did. I’m sorry.”
Xion averted her eyes as she attempted to brainstorm a good excuse. She’d never lied to Axel before. She didn’t want to lie to Axel.
“We went out for drinks, and I’ve...I’ve never summoned a corridor after drinking. So I waited.” True enough, Xion reassured herself - she had waited before opening the corridor, worried that her boozy thoughts would carry her far away from the Castle.
Of course, other things had happened first. She tried not to remember her date’s rancid breath against her neck, mumbling someone else’s name, and then the rush to get her shirt back on. Inside-out, but oh well. Walking aimlessly for a 24-hour diner, then playing Pokemon GO on her phone until it died.
Oh, but it hurt. At least if she had a heart, it would only hurt in one place.
