Got to play apprentice to some glass bead makers for a couple of hours before my shift at the market. Mostly pumped the bellows, but I got to make a couple of beads myself as well. Incredibly grateful to these two for indulging me!

First bead I’ve ever made. One side is definitely more successful than the other.

My little camp at the viking market this past weekend. It was still upsetting to miss Wasteland but at least I had something to focus on. Even managed to make some beads on the sunday - it's been a real struggle to get my furnace hot enough and I just baaaarely got to minimum working temp, but I'm glad I didn't have to spend a second day explaining to visitors that I would be making beads if I got my fire hot enough. (that's the experimental element to experimental archaeology for you...)

MY FINGERS ARE WORN TO THE BONE AND THE LAST SHRED OF MY SANITY HAS FINALLY DIED WITH A WHIMPER BUT BEHOLD: FINISHED HEDEBY TUNIC!!!

I am so proud of these felled seams, the whipstitches are mostly invisible on the outside!

This is currently my absolute favourite vikingage dress. It is dyed with madder by me at a viking market and hand sewn by me. Viking reenactment has been pretty important in my realisation that I suit colours and that I really like reds and oranges.
