"Can I sit on your lap?"
How can Ivar say no to his precious daughter's question? In a room full of people towering over the child, Ivar's glad that she had come to him instead of his brothers or anyone else. Especially since he can see the sleep in her eyes that grows as the evening goes on.
You see Ivar help your daughter onto his lap, allowing her to nestle against his chest as she struggles to keep her eyes open. Your eyes flicker back to them as the conversation you're in carries on, smiling every time you see Ivar gently stroking the young child's head, placing short kisses on her forehead when he thinks that no one is looking. The sight really does warm your heart.
When you're finally free, you walk towards him and your sleeping daughter in his lap. "I can see she has the best seat here," you mention as you sit in the chair beside him. You don't have to keep your voice soft as to not wake your child because if you gather that if she was able to fall asleep in a hall full of rowdy Vikings, then she won't mind you speaking loudly. "She beat me to it."
Ivar chuckles at your words and glances down at the sleeping princess against his chest. "She only wants the best. Like her mother, apparently," he teases, looking back at you with a smile on his face.
"I'd say she has good taste like I do," you respond, standing up to take a small step forward so you can take your child from Ivar to take her to bed. "Hopefully my seat is still here when I come back," you whisper to him.
He licks his lips, takes a deep breath through his nose as he looks up at you with a gleeful look in his eyes. "I'll make sure it is."

Ivar screams your name as he walks into the Great Hall, making you groan silently and roll your eyes to yourself as you turn around to face him. You fold your arms over your chest, watching him stagger towards you with his crutch close to his side.
"I thought you would be training," he mentions, smiling at you with that damn smile that always makes your heart flutter.
"Then why did you come in here screaming my name, huh?" you ask, shifting on your feet as you look up at him with a teasing smirk on your face.
He leans closer to your face, licking his lips as he stares down into your eyes. "I am not going to lose you on this raid like I almost did last time, do you understand that?" he questions, keeping your gaze with those piercing blue eyes of his.
You swallow roughly, nod your head stiffly as your eyes flutter in front of him. "I understand, Ivar."
"Good," he whispers, raising his hand to cup the side of your face, his thumb swiping over your lower lip as his eyes flicker down to them. "Now, get your sword and axe and go train."
He lets go of your face, making you groan that he didn't kiss you and you roll your eyes right in front of him so he can see. "Sometimes I want to punch you and other times I want to kiss you," you mutter, loud enough for him to hear. "But when you do shit like that, I lean more towards wanting to punch you."
You turn around to walk away so you can do as he says to get your weapons. "You'll get a kiss from me when you come back sore and stiff from training," he shouts out after you, shifting on his feet and laughing when you look back at him with a cold, irritated look in your eyes.

January Snippets Masterlist - Prompt: “I’m going to kiss that pout off of you in a minute.”
They bow their head to you as they walk past you, making you force a smile to each lord as you stand with your hands folded gently in front of you. You're happy that they're leaving because you haven't seen your husband all day. With the room now empty, you walk in with a genuine smile.
That smile quickly disappears when you see Ivar's nose deeply fixed in the plans in front of him. It's clear that you won't be getting the time you thought you'd be getting from him.
You walk quietly towards him but let out a loud huff as you fall into the chair next to him, hoping that it will make him look up at you. He doesn't. You sigh loudly again, sinking deeper into the chair and folding your arms over your chest.
"If you do that one more time, I'll give you a real reason to sigh," Ivar says, but he doesn't look up at you.
"Well, at least it'll be some kind of attention I get from you," you mutter, shifting in your seat. You have to stop yourself from smiling at how you feel like a child, so you end up pouting.
Ivar's the one that sighs now, finally lifting his head to look at you as he leans back in his chair. "You think I am a bad husband for not paying attention to you?" he asks, but by the smirk on his face, you can tell that he's asking in jest.
You shake your head, smiling at him as you hold your head high in the air. "You think I'm an annoying wife because I haven't seen my husband all day?" you ask back, pouting again to stop yourself from laughing.
He narrows his eyes at you, raises his hand, and calls you forward with a curling finger. You try to not seem excited as you push yourself out of your seat to walk towards him. He takes your hand in his, kisses the back of your knuckles, and gently strokes your hand with his thumb.
"I'm going to kiss that pout off of you in a minute. Then, I'm going to ask for a few more minutes of your patience and then I am all yours for the rest of the day, my beautiful wife," he says.
Then, he pulls you forward to pull you in for a kiss, holding you close for longer than you expected. There's no denying that it makes your heart happy to have a kiss from your husband after a long day of not having time with him at all.
As you pull away, you have a bright smile on your face. It makes Ivar chuckle and he leans back in his chair with a proud smirk on his face. "That's what I like to see on your face."
