that little hotel role-playing bit with shane calling ilya sir and pretending to be the bellboy or something was soooo good, one of my fave bit of the whole episode - because they get to have fun sex, they get to be light and smiling now. they have so much fun together, they're so playful (I mean they literally play a game for a living and yes, the game they play is very intense and competitive and technical and hard but it's a game and they're the best at it so of course they're good at playing together wether it's hockey or not) - the cottage gives them time to do a lot more than sex and they're basically always playing (in the water, with the football or the video game...) and to relax and tease each other but they can also be playful while having sex now because they know and trust each other so well and it's not all intense stolen moments anymore. and seeing them fall so easily into role-playing and teasing each other (also not role-playing but them actually making a deal and then all the slaps during the hayden call was so funny lmao) was so heartwarming - especially when you think about how they have to text under false names for the outside world but when it's just the two of them they can use their real names but also play around with that and bring that into their hot sex life. and they're both very funny people and they make each other laugh so of course they'd have fun sex.

and the hotel setting is a great callback to them often having sex in hotel rooms (ilya says he knows how the staff likes to be treated after all these years) but now they're in love and they're actually at shane's private house!!!

the endless running on the beach towards each other because she can't control her heartbeat and her teleportation powers (even hours after drinking caffeine so maybe it's him...) but she keeps trying to bring him back!!! also love the way this entire sequence is filmed, it truly looks like it was filmed a few decades ago especially with the cut of his outfit and some of the wide shots of them running and the colours

chae-ni orchestrating a master plan with kidnapping just so she can travel and be free before dying only to... die before the plan even can take form is very tragic in an ironic way and clearly this show is not serious because now I'm genuinely laughing at her friends having to deal with the mess and unjeong finding them with her body

some behind the scenes footage from a recent mending commission I did to repair the frayed edge of two fine cashmere sweaters that had me doing some micro knitting on sewing needles

the way shane is wearing his metros sweater while ilya is wearing shane's clothes in this scene - the scene where they go from ilya talking about marrying someone else for citizenship (because it would mean he could stay closer to shane) and to him saying that no matter what he always wishes he was with shane because he can't stop thinking about him (while literally wearing his clothes in his house) - highlights how ilya doesn't really have a deep bond to his team like shane does and how he's ready to leave them just to be close to shane. but also how shane wants to share everything with ilya and plan for a future where they can be together because ilya is his and he's ilya's.

and the dialogue in this scene, and in the entire episode tbh, already makes all of this clear but I love how this little bit of costume design adds to it. not only is shane tied to the metros (and therefore to canada as opposed to the american citizenship ilya would get by marrying svetlana) and will stay there but ilya has moved on from his own team. shane cares about hockey and needs hockey more than ilya does - which is why ilya can suggest leaving his team with no regrets - but he's opening up space for ilya in his life so it doesn't just revolve around hockey now.

also thinking back to the russian call scene during which ilya said he made sure everyone was fed and clothed at home despite not being appreciated for it and being tired of it and here's shane inviting ilya into his home and feeding him and putting his clothes on his back. and ilya choosing shane means he can't go back home to russia (him being at the cottage already highlights that he didn't go back to russia like he usually does every summer) but it also means he's got a new home with shane and wether it's russia or boston he's not tied to any place that doesn't have shane.
