vinnie pasquantino and jac caglianone! emphasis on the f part of the rpf here, but I feel like they have a fun dynamic
disclaimer that I literally just heard about these guys this morning and these are the impressions I got after doing a google search and watching some videos.
jac caglianone - sixth overall pic in the 2024 mlb draft, and made his mlb debut in 2025. it sounds like he didn't have a great season, but he was on team italy for the wbc a few weeks ago with vinnie.
vinnie pasquantino - drafted by the royals in the 11th round in 2019 and debuted in 2022. it sounds like he's doing pretty well, career-wise! apparently he's also roommates with bobby witt jr (the tortoise's namesake and a baseball card nerd), and they call their house the wittz-carlton.
in june 2025, jac made his debut with the royals. this article (how jac caglianone found his love for baseball again after distressing 2025) is an interesting look into that! some snippets:
vinnie was captain of team italy during the world baseball classic, and the team had an espresso machine in the dugout. after every home run, the player who got the home run took a shot. (vinnie got a historic three home runs in one of the games and had to take three espresso shots.) here's vinnie giving jac espresso before one of their usual post-home-run italian cheek kiss cellies:
apparently vinnie was doing this with all of the italians who homered, but vinnie and jac have been doing celebratory cheek kisses since july 2025 - and they have a coffee together now because of this. a kansas city-based coffee company was inspired by the wbc to make a drink called the "pasquaglione" that has a single shot of espresso, vodka, coffee liquor, crème, syrup, and italian cherries.
anyway, back to july 2025, which brought us this headline --
also, going back a bit to march 2025 -- when vinnie was asked about playing with jac in spring training, he said, "the first thing is he's got massive hands. it's ridiculous. so that's a tool, I don't care what anyone says. that's a tool. you shake the guy's hand, you feel very small. so that's the first thing.
"the second thing, like - tower power. ever heard of it? it's ridiculous. the guy touches the baseball, it goes over the wall. [...] he has really good athleticism. you watch the two of us together, and it's like we're playing a different sport, which is really cool for me."
