Helvetia produced watches for the German army before and during WW2; while this isn't marked DH (probably due to a generally low production of a specialized watch for a pilot whereas DH were for the masses) it still most likely adorned the wrist of a German aviator in the 1930's. A friend said to me when discussing @theydid post from yesterday 'I never understood why people even still bought old watches'; that friend is a watch dealer no less though not a vintage watch dealer. I responded that watches still keep time mechanically and not much has changed and pointed to the seemingly hundreds of reissues made in the past 3 decades. I then mused that I 'didn't have the answers only the watches'. But isn't the answer in that these watches remain vital, cool and wearable pieces of history/art? Will a white t-shirt, leather jacket and blue jeans ever stop being a good look? I wouldn't bet against it. - - - - - - - - - - #hevletia #vintagepilot #pilotwatch #fliegerwatch #1930s #radium #ww2 #military #manualwind #vintagewatch #watch #watches #militarywatch #rare #blackdial #patina #watchfam https://www.instagram.com/p/CIlhZf-LaQO/?igshid=1wzdvwcup5xhx
