Please enjoy the final installment of B. Marcello’s Sonata no. 1 in collaboration with @amaroduboisviola Be sure to check out @amaroduboisviola for exciting viola solo and collaborative content! As a Suzuki viola instructor, it’s been an invaluable experience to review this beautiful piece by learning the bass line. (This sonata appears in an arrangement by Doris Preucil in Suzuki viola book 5). Baroque music is driven by the bass line and its implied harmonic motion. There are many wonderful baroque pieces in the suzuki core repertoire for all instruments. I look forward to performing these pieces in the same room with my students when the pandemic ends! As this particular piece was originally composed for cello, I’m thinking about “recycling” my own bass line recordings and performing the solo part on #violoncellodaspalla Let me know in the comments if you’d be interested in hearing this sonata performed on 2 violoncelli da spalla! Also, if you speak Italian, please let me know if I’ve used the correct plural for violoncelli da spalla! #cello #cellist #cellista #violadaspalla #viola #violist #violapower #violanation #beautifulmusic #baroquemusic #baroquestyle #classicalmusic #marcellosonata #marcello #strings #stringplayer #stringplayers #musiclover #suzukiteacher #suzukiviola #hellocello #cellolove #violalove #classicalcellist #baroquecello #cellomusic (at Memphis, Tennessee) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEjcXVig-Uc/?igshid=yij35ssgg1tw
