“Train up a child in the way it should go so that when he/she gets old they won’t depart from it.” I don’t know if that applies nowadays because people always have an opinion on how to raise your children. Violence begets violence whatever the situation this boy did not respond well to the threats and reprimands. This pained me to watch because I can see the hurt on this mother’s face and the scorn on his. There are many parents who do their best but children have a mind of their own. Who knows what she was trying to save him from but he took a stand trying to be a man. Sometimes you have to let children learn the hard way. I’ve got a lot of catching up to do😬 but I have been doing a catching up of a different kind with old friends from my hood ‘Kak-Yard’ aka KYD in Gugulethu. Word has it, it was given the name ‘Kak Yard’ by apartheid police because of the ‘kak’ we use to serve them when they come to retrieve or arrested anyone there. The neighborhood is known is known in most hoods in Cape Town. It has produced some amazing gems and talent such as @driemanskap @vincentntunja to name but two. But it is also has produced some notorious ferociously violent motherf@#&er$. I was reminded through throwback stories how from a young age, we had to learn how to be fierce as much as you were being nice. We grew up with violence, it’s something that we know all too well. Something we could not escape it was and still is all around us. It made me think about the proposal of sending the army to some of these hoods and how I don’t think threatening ‘criminals’ with violence will solve the murderous epidemic that’s ravaging the Cape Flats. We know violence and it does not scare us, it only makes us more violent. Charlottesville Virginia 8/12/2017

  Today’s civil unrest in Charlottesville is brought to you as a result of a clash between Alt Right groups of white nationalists, kkk, and neo nazis...    and the counter protestors from the equally as radical ANTIFA and others like the BLM.  Both sides were equally uncivil, spraying each other with pepper spray, throwing water ballons filled with paint, shouting each other down and physically confronting each other.  

It’s one thing to protest, but the minute you put your hands on someone else or spray things in their face - you turn up the anger, and the level of violence.  And violence only begets more violence.  

I’m not saying the ALT Right was right, I think it’s horrible in this day and age that there are neo nazi groups that promote ignorance and hate. Y’all need to stop. 

But I am disturbed and disappointed by the level of violence on both sides. Just because they are wrong doesn’t make it right to counter violence with violence.

It just escalates the rage, and people do unspeakable things when they are enraged.  There is a special place in hell for the driver of this vehicle.  I hope you are  caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. 

My prayers go out to the victims of this unimaginable and horrible act of violence.  A life has been cut short today because of  intolerance and hate.  This needs to stop.
