I’ve got a lot of catching up to do😬 but I have been doing a catching up of a different kind with old friends from my hood ‘Kak-Yard’ aka KYD in Gugulethu. Word has it, it was given the name ‘Kak Yard’ by apartheid police because of the ‘kak’ we use to serve them when they come to retrieve or arrested anyone there. The neighborhood is known is known in most hoods in Cape Town. It has produced some amazing gems and talent such as @driemanskap @vincentntunja to name but two. But it is also has produced some notorious ferociously violent motherf@#&er$. I was reminded through throwback stories how from a young age, we had to learn how to be fierce as much as you were being nice. We grew up with violence, it’s something that we know all too well. Something we could not escape it was and still is all around us. It made me think about the proposal of sending the army to some of these hoods and how I don’t think threatening ‘criminals’ with violence will solve the murderous epidemic that’s ravaging the Cape Flats. We know violence and it does not scare us, it only makes us more violent. Nothing is ever easy....

Things were going ok. Well, I mean as ok as they can be when you foster. After the allegations of abuse at weekend visits, we were changed back to supervised at the office or park. The first visit was scheduled for the park but then changed to the office because CW felt like bios needed to give a urine which can't be done at the park. We happily arrived at the office just to find bio dad FURIOUS over this. We all pile into a 6x6 waiting room and the fun begins. Little Man was upset about not being at the park so he sat in his usual arms folded pout face position. Dae decides it's the proper time to kneel down and get directly in his face and start screaming. He told this poor child that it's "bullshit" they can't go to the park. He also tells him it's lies that he abused him. A 6 year old doesn't need to hear that he now needs to get an attorney to get him back because he said Dad hit him. Mind you, Dad admitted it. There was a visible welt on him. This isn't up for debate nor is it something that should be turned around on the little boy. Dad continues to yell and Little Man is scared to death. The door opens and a swarm of CW'S appear and wisk little man out of the room. A very heated fight ensues between dad and CW. All while me and my 13 year old are trapped in this room with them. The fight moves outside to the street. We now have several sherrifs and local police there. Dad gets hauled away. Everyone is shaken up. Mom is still allowed to see the kids since we are there any way. The kids are a wreck. Little Man is sobbing. Sass is screaming. Dad is released from the law enforcement just to come right back out in the street in front of cys and continue screaming. He also refused a urine test. Once again these babies are caught in the middle of something they should know nothing about. Once again I bring them home and pick up the pieces. It's emotionally destroying them. They now require intensive therapy. Sass has regressed so far in behaviors we are limited to taking her out of the home only as necessary. Little Man is so confused and angry. My whole family is a wreck. Those bio parents are just living life like nothing ever happened. They have now been cut off and can't even have phone calls with the kids. Dad is being charged with multiple charges. I'm still raising their babies. Oh and the goal is still reunification......
