For the female character meme...I'd actually be quite interested to hear your thoughts on #12
12. Who I think deserved better endings
The hard part is that, while there are a lot of characters who I think deserved better treatment in their stories in general (Micaiah, Lucina, Camilla, etc), for a lot of them, their endings were actually perfect for them and their story. So this one was harder to put together, but I still have some strong opinions.
Scarlet, from Fire Emblem Fates: Revelations. Let’s compare it to one of the best character deaths in the franchise, Prince Hardin. Now, Hardin’s corruption and eventual death were tragic, pitiful, but powerful, and really affecting. Scarlet’s sudden but heroic taking of a cutscene killshot was, well, just that, sudden, and thus cheap, cruel, and unfulfilling (see also, Lilith in Conquest and Birthright, and, to a lesser extent, Elise from Birthright).
Sophitia Alexandra from Soul Calibur. Amazing character in Soul Edge and the first Soul Calibur, was given the option to be written out barring the cameo in the second game, and then brought in for the dark extension of her plot line, and then come Soul Calibur IV, and then V, and, well... I mean, they were trrrrrrrrying to rectify it towards the end, but, the franchise is pretty much dead at this point, killed before its time by a complete self destruction, so, she’s left out in the lurch.
Safana from Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn. Sure, she was a minor role party member from the first game, but, still, she deserved better than getting dragged in and killed off in a sequence put into the game just to spite an even particularly obnoxious fan of another character.
Nino, from Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword. Another hint that she and Canas are related: death by continuity errors. Okay, in her case, she’s more on the lam, but, for all intents and purposes, the poor kid has suffered too much as it is.
Empress Mikoto from Fire Emblem Fates. I feel like they pulled that particular trigger much too quickly in the story.
