💀 reverse it up omg

            the front gate - wide open , the front door - unlocked / yet , the house shows no sign of strange movement ( to a stranger’s eye ; a myopic conclusion : they must have forgotten to close the gate , and lock the door for they were in a hurry - a childish mistake ) . but holmes knows better . hands are tucked away into the coat pocket , with each step he takes meticulously planned and calculated .  

            he’s only at the front hall but a strong metallic smell pierces his nose –– and immediately he recognises the scent : blood .  from the inner pocket , he retrieves the monogramed handkerchief , which then he uses to cover the knob , twisting ever gently . a nudge is plenty for the door to creak open . 

            he sees del in the corner , motionless . quite possibly emotionless . hands cupping his face , harsh breaths escape . and in the centre : a body - limp , all traces of life vanished , only their blood contest through the gaps of the hardwood floor ; desperately trying to make their last mark . 

            holmes spends no more than a mere second on the cadaver : adult hands , prominent with bones than of a teenagers ; youthful appearance retained behind the dark mask - must have been a man in his twenties . he’s face up ,  stabbed in the chest , handle pointed upwards -  indication of struggle and unexpected overpower . common theft , he suspects . perhaps - from the deadly result - his final heist ; he had nothing to lose , after all . 

           his attention swings back to the shaken reporter . there’s no use for comforting words , they would all be lies . instead , he suggests an alternative , a partnership . 

                    ‘ oh , mister lestrade . what shall we do now ? ’
