The scholar's shadow wavered and stretched out behind him, reaching far enough to allow Lunar's form to rise out of it. She'd watch what he was doing over his shoulder for a moment before shifting a little further to press a kiss to his cheek. Trying to startle him again just before he ended up taking notice of her presence for standing there too long.
Virgil, as usual, did not notice Lunar’s presence, head propped up on one hand as he reread through his current writing, a serious crease between his brow. He made a face, lifting his head from his hand as he picked up his pen, dipping it in the ink and completely crossing out an entire paragraph, muttering something under his breath in his father’s tongue.
Something warm pressed against his other cheek, causing him to start slightly, inked pen striking an awkward streak across the page as he turned startled eyes up in the direction, blinking rapidly before he realized who he was looking at. Color rose into the scholar’s cheeks, piecing together what had happened.
“Oh...! Um, what was that for...?”
