Hi! I’m attempting to find a digital Seder I can attend Wednesday night. I’m a convert, so I’m the only one in my family celebrating (it’s actually my first Pesach!) Do you have any suggestion? Thank you for all you do :)
My name is Josh (he/him/his) and I’m a rabbinical student living in NYC. Thank you so so much for reaching out. I’m going to make this post public so as many people as possible know about some options that exist for their virtual Passover this year!
I would suggest using your judgement and possibly reaching out to each community beforehand to RSVP and let them know that you are excited to join them.
Options 1 and 2 : Rabbi Shalom Kanter and Cong. Kol Ami/Rabbi Oren Steinitz are hosting online seders on the first and second nights of the holiday. (One on each day- each starting at 6PM EST each evening). You can find the links for these services (and links to online Shabbat services, online study opportunities, etc) at this link. (Also as a bonus, under the “Special Events Livestreaming” tab, there is a family seder at 10:30AM EST on Wednesday if you’re interested!)
Option 3: A classmate of mine (I’m a rabbinical student) posted about a Queer Passover Seder happening on Thursday from 7:00-9:00 PM. This seder will cost $10. Information below:
Join Out at the J virtually for our 2nd annual Queer Seder as we honor Jewish struggles of the past and recognize our shared struggles of today. Led by Cantor Laura Stein, we'll join in community to break through feelings of isolation and fear, using our people's narrative to look to a brighter future. All are welcome to explore LGBTQIA+ themes of freedom, expression and hope. Follow along with our forthcoming Haggadah. The program will take place virtually. Zoom link to be sent upon registration. All are welcome, regardless of identity or religion.Questions? Email Rachel Kunstadt: [email protected]
Option 4 and more: The Union for Reform Judaism has a calendar of several online seders (and Festival Services, and online gatherings) that you could join if you’d like!
Bonus: What do you need for your seder table? This checklist link has some helpful suggestions to get you started!
Please let me know how I can make your Passover celebrations even more meaningful and special,
