When your professional life is falling down around you and you just can't even...you read fluff and eat ice cream at 5:00. (And ignore your bag full of work)
My husband just found out one of his bosses tested positive for COVID. I told my admin that he got tested tonight and assumed they’d want me to work from home until he gets his results back (because if he has it, it’s extremely likely I also have it), especially since all of our PDs are virtual tomorrow. But no. Unless I show symptoms I have to go. No wonder our country is so freaking bad at getting rid of this virus 🤦🏻♀️
Side note: My mom reached out to her admin (she works in the same school system that I do) and informed her of the possible exposure (my husband did work at their house two days this week so she was in contact with someone who was exposed) and her boss insisted she work from home until his results come back. That’s what makes the most since when literally all of our work can be done remotely. So why, in the same county, are potential cases treated so differently???
I want to write tonight...but I'm a teacher. Therefore I am working two full-time jobs in one and kind of want to die.
Oh crap now there’s more! How many Pedros am I going to teach today??
Year 8 of teaching is complete! This was a year unlike any other. It was HARD, there were tears and lots of feelings. There was frustration as I was thrown into a 3rd grade classroom days before the school year started. There was headache after headache as I tried to navigate in-peron, hybrid, AND virtual classrooms at the same time. There was anger as our government put corporate greed ahead of the lives of students and teachers.
But we made it. I fell in love with 3rd grade and will stay in the classroom going forward (I will miss Title I, but it was time!). My family remained healthy. My students stepped up and faced their situation with grace and patience. I am so proud of them, my team, and my school.
Hello, Summer. It's so good to see you. 🌞 We earned this break, teacher friends. Enjoy!
