Did a virtual half marathon on my birthday last week. I wanted to get in my Turkey Run before Thanksgiving 🦃🏃🏻♀️
I started running a few years ago for my mental health, and started it up again earlier this year. I want to do a half marathon every month, hopefully no injuries to stop me 😅🤞
My latest in virtual races. These are Christmas/New Year's ones (I posted the one New Year's one the other day by itself). One of these (the one image with two) was an actual race in Virginia, with a virtual aspect. So that was pretty cool. Many of you may know I'm doing my best to get healthier. One of the things that I need to do is get out and move more, which means walking a lot more. A couple of years ago, I started doing virtual races. For the most part, they are pretty inexpensive and sometimes part of the money goes to charity. What's nice is they come in all sorts of miles. Some as high as 150 or more miles, which is good because it takes time to finish. Some are shorter. When I have the choice, I always go with the highest total (in ones where I can choose 5K, 10K, half-marathon or marathon) because I feel I earn it more. Sometimes it can take upward of a month to finish, depending on the race. Some races take directly from my FitBit, so it counts everything I do during the day. Others I have to submit my results, so I usually only use walks that I track via MapMyWalk. It's nice in that regard. Moving forward, when I finish a race, I'll likely put the medal here. But for now, I'm going to catch up by posting the medals here. I'm also posting a photo of some of the bibs (not all races do the bibs, but they are nice when you get them). Hopefully, in time, I'll be able to run these more than walk and maybe even do a real 5K or two. We'll see how the knees hold up! There are a lot of groups that do these virtual races and you can run/walk/bike. It's a different and fun way to push yourself to get active more. Since it's such a gorgeous day, I decided to use my #zombiesrunapp to track my run for the #supermom #virtual5k from #virtualpaceseries. Not gonna lie, this one HURT but I do believe this is my fastest time #running this distance. But this is my third completed #5k. I'm damn proud of myself.
