The Supreme God and Goddess of the Visayan Mythology

Kaptan

- Much like Zeus of the ancient Greeks, Kaptan was considered as the father of the whole deities under the Visayan pantheon. He had the power of thunder and lightning, and was also responsible of the whole creation alongside Maguayan. His dominion was the whole heavens.

Maguayan

- The wife and sister of Kaptan. Maguayan was the opposite of her husband--she was reserved, quiet at most time, and when angered, she could bring typhoons, both strong winds and tides. Later on with her story, she became the guiding deity of souls who recently passed away and would take them to either in paradise or in great sorrows. Her dominion was the whole waters in no matter what shape and form.

BAGANI POSTER

- Last year (2020), I made a watercolor illustration depicting the Visayan god--Kaptan. It was a good thing that this year it was put into use through a poster I made for Kulturang Sugbuanon Productions which they have used as their album cover for their rendition of the song "Bagani.
