ever since i played silent hill 4 walter sullivan has slithered his way into my brain regularly every few years to inflict psychological pain onto me. his entire story depresses me. truly the mothercested of all time.
The concept of michael only realizing how he and his brother mirror each other upon seeing his remains
michael opening the box HABIT sends him and it’s just full of shaun’s organs and he knows it’s shaun. he can’t see him but he can tell because they are one in the same; in the sense that their hearts beat in the same shameful rythm and their lungs stutter the same way when they’re scared and their brains never know that they’re wrong. they don’t move but michael can see the ghosts of movement and he’s crying.
He’s crying because he knows that could have, and should have, been him. He’s crying because the only person to truly understand him spent a lifetime convincing him he didn’t. He’s crying because he’ll never have a brother, or a friend, or a lover, because they will all die like Shaun did. He’s crying and he’s sick because he shouldn’t have let Shaun leave the motel that night.
He throws up and all he sees is bile. it’s not brown and full of food because he hasn’t eaten in days. Shaun would have made him eat something, and that makes him more sick.

no matter what shaun said to him or how abusive he was to him michael still loved him like a hit dog whining at his foot and begging for somebody anybody to love him.
And now that shaun is gone all he has is his organs and viscera to remind him of the brother he once had. the only person who loved him even in that sick and miserable way. Only shaun truly loved him. Not his parents who sent him away. Not the friends who abandoned him. Nobody stays with him but Shaun and i think he’d cling to it.
