this would at least reduce his workload. while most scholars took care to phrase their proposals carefully, there were always a few upstarts who tried to rush their work into approval. al-haitham could spend less time sorting through forms, and more time thinking about their possibilities, and hopefully that'd get more of his workload done in a day.

turning to shizuko, he added, "for the most part, everything should be written clearly, or at least to where you can get the general point of the proposal. you're entirely free to reject it or set it aside for me to look over if you're unsure of something."

he'd prefer that she reject anything that wasn't clear to her, but al-haitham decided that allowing her to check in with him wouldn't hurt. he was, essentially, shizuko's manager now. he was responsible for helping her growth, although this was more of a favor to the traveler.

The noise he made was one most pitiful. Look at him--such a pathetic little thing--hoisted so high in the air like that...Shizuko is a cruel roommate! Doesn’t she know snacks are meant to be eaten? Her ravaged cupboards certainly do; the memory of his late night, early morning escapades prompt Tartaglia to lick his chops. 

For all his wriggling and whining for freedom, it seemed there wasn’t a single bone of regret in his body.

I'm gonna make this more relevant to RP, but yes:

There's a world of difference between shipping with duplicates because you appreciate individual differences between portrayals and plots... and just hoarding as many as you can. Menagerie-collecting ain't cool and I personally ditch the hell out of dodge if I feel it's happening to me. Don't do it because it makes people feel shitty, yeah?

I feel like the world would be better place if people understood that some muses can ship right off the bat while others need time and interactions to develop. Canon, OC... doesn't matter. Just don't act like an entitled brat and you'll go far.

I feel like, with the whole fanon vs. canon debacle and how some people feel they can't wrest free from shitty fanon or be taken seriously... I honestly say sometimes you have to make people see your portrayal for what it is instead of ceding. I've done it many times before with shallowly regarded characters and it's worth it every time. Chucking bricks through people's windows, so to speak.

Shizuko leans on akali, a pout upon her face as she hasn't been around the other. Busy with work and was craving to be around her. Arms wrapped lightly around akali's hips as she peered up to her.

"Akaawwwiiiii."

“Shiwuko.” Akali mimicked her way of speaking, cooing affectionately and already wrapping her own arms around the shoulders of her sweet, little girlfriend. “You look tired, babe. Long day?” She leans down and plants a light kiss on Shizuko’s forehead. “Remember not to push yourself too hard. I can’t tell you how pretty and precious you are when you’re knocked out.” It’s a big case of the pot calling the kettle black, but that doesn’t mean she can’t fuss over her girlfriend.

“Even if I was busy, I still wouldn’t mind telling you, y’know.” He had to joke mildly with her quick backtracking, flashing over a grin as if to ease whatever nerves made her backtrack in the first place. While there were certainly some friends that might be easier to visit in passing, Shizuko was always someone that Aether liked to stop and have longer chats with - whether it was about his travels or whatever trouble she would get herself into. 

“Where was I last when we chatted? Was I still in Inazuma? If that’s the case, then I think I’ve got a couple of new tales about one of the islands over there, if you’ve got some time yourself?”

he wasn’t sure what to expect, really. more harsh remarks, showing that diluc hadn’t allowed his walls to lower? the outstretched but nervous hand approaching reconciliation, before pulling itself back? the latter being all the more painful than the former, as the latter gave him too much hope.
