The bazaar makes me dream and long for chambers kept in dim light, permanent interludes and slow paced life. I think that light is the most important thing in the designing of a room. It can change the way you feel in an instant and, unfortunately, always being kept alert by the electronic devices or the flashy neon lights, we forget to just be and how to how find our way in the dark.
Very sleepy kitten from the Islamic district of Cairo.
Forgotten mosque, Darb el Ahmar, Cairo.
Mashrabiya in the house of el-Suhaymi, Islamic Cairo.
The painter.
Mosque of al-Aqmar (“the Monolit”) was the first mosque in Cairo with decorated stone facade and a source of inspiration for later buildings. It was built by the grand wazir Ma’mun al-Bara’ihi to the Fatimid Khalif al-Amir between 1121-1125 CE.
