Sheridan, Wyo - Travel Tuesday
Wyoming was never on my list of places to visit. It didn’t seem to fit alongside Turks and Caicos, Barcelona, Rome, San Diego, Denver, Portland, etc. Then I met my husband. I learned a few months into our relationship that his family recently moved from Michigan to Wyoming. At that moment, I knew Wyoming would make its way to the list of places I’ve traveled.
Needless to say, I’ve now been to Wyoming twice. Here’s the thing about it: there’s not much to do (as it’s the least populated U.S. state), but it sure is pretty. Today I’ll feature a little town named Sheridan. It’s located in the north-central region of the state.
Reasons you’d end up in Sheridan:
You’re passing through Wyoming, heading somewhere else.
You’re exploring the Big Horn Mountains.
You’re there for the rodeo.
You’re there for the Polo.
While I’ve never actually stayed at a hotel in Sheridan, I noticed there were several options during our last visit. TripAdvisor has the top ranked hotels in Sheridan here.
Frackleton’s on Main for lunch or dinner. Enjoy dining with the cattle baronesses. I especially enjoyed the caramel cake dessert with my glass of champagne :)
Wyoming Cattle & Creek for lunch or dinner. Grab one of their crazy appetizers as you watch a game on TV.
Sanfords Grub & Pub for lunch or dinner. You’ll be overwhelmed with the large menu and all the memorabiliba on the walls.
Open Range Restaurant at the historic Sheridan Inn. We went here for my Mother-In-Law’s celebratory birthday dinner. The food was quite tasty and set in a really historic spot.
Grab a drink at the historic Mint Bar
Go on a brewery crawl. You’ll want to visit both the breweries in town: Luminous Brewhouse and Blacktooth Brewing.
Explore the shops in town
Hike into the Big Horn Mountains
If you happen to visit Sheridan the second week of July, visit the Sheridan Rodeo. Apparently the town essentially closes for all kinds of rodeo goodness. Yeehaw!
Watch a Polo game. While I haven’t witnessed this personally, my family recommends it. I mean seriously, catching polo game in Wyoming? How random and cool is that?
