Story Hub: Subway Closure
3:30 PM
It was 3:30 pm on a Thursday. I was doing this since 10 in the morning. I got the call this morning telling me to come in early since the subway’s down again at Dundas station. They were running low on ttc directors. I was told to load the passengers onto the shuttle buses and make sure the buses weren’t overcrowded. I had to deal with many angry customers and the only thing I could do was smile and wish them a good day and sorry for the inconvenience.
4:15 PM
The lines continues to grow longer and longer. It’s starting to snake around. Just scanning the faces of those in line, I could tell their growing impatient. I even see a guy with a bike… He’s not seriously thinking of getting on with that right?
5:00 PM
My shift is almost over, this will be the last batch and I’ll be done. I wasn’t expecting to get called to work today and ended up staying up all night watching Netflix. After dealing with angry customers for more than 6 hours, I’m exhausted. As I was helping the last passenger onto the bus, I realized it was an old lady. She looked about 70, with a huge smile on her face, thanking me for my help and generosity. She was actually one of the few people who wished me a good day. With that, it was the end of my shift.
6:00 PM
I was able to peacefully fall asleep to the sweet smile of this certain elder who reminded me a lot of my deceased grandmother.

4:30 PM
Oh my God. NO. Are you kidding me? REALLY? Dammit, of course the station is closed. What a great addition to my already wonderful day. Not only was I late for my exam because of my stupidity of getting AM and PM mixed up, my dumbass bike decides to die on me when I need it the most. Now the subway jumps on the bandwagon too. GREAT.
4:45 PM
Crap, why are the lines so lo-, oh, right… rush hour. How the heck do I get on with a bike with all the people already in line? I’m already getting all these looks from the people around me.
5:00 PM
Where are all the people in the buses coming from? Why are they so crowded before they even reach Dundas?
6:00 PM
Wow I was actually waiting for 2 hours. I could have got home by now if I walked. Urgh, I should have just left my bike and picked it up another day. Jesus. Well since its almost my turn, I’ll just wait a bit more.
6:05 PM
“The subway is up and running again. You are free to access the subway again. Sorry for all the inconvenience.”
…. WOW REALLY?

1:00 PM
It was a great suggestion from my daughter to leave the house once in a while. I havnt walked around in the mall in ages. I found that it makes for good exercise. And since I am searching for a present for my granddaughter, I stopped by many toy stores.
2:00 PM
I brought a Barbie doll as a present. I hope she likes it. I should probably start heading down to my daughter’s now.
2:30 PM
Oh dear, it looks like the station is closed. It says here on this sign that there are shuttle buses available. Okay then.
3:00 PM
I see a line forming from across Dundas Square already. I wonder how long this will take.
5:00PM
A young middle ages man offered me a hand while getting on the bus, it was very sweet of him. I bid him farewell and wished him a good day.
