You were drivin' the getaway car We were flyin’, but we'd never get far Don't pretend it's such a mystery Think about the place where you first met me We're ridin' in a getaway car There were sirens in the beat of your heart Should've known I'd be the first to leave Think about the place where you first met me @taylorswift @taylornation
Ocean blue eyes looking in mine I feel like I might sink and drown and die @taylorswift @taylornation
But we were dancing Dancing with our hands tied, hands tied Yeah, we were dancing Like it was the first time, first time Yeah, we were dancing
And all at once, you are the one I have been waiting for King of my heart, body and soul, ooh whoa 👑❤️ @taylorswift @taylornation #taylorswift #reputation #reputationlyrics #kingofmyheart #prismacolor #coloredpencil #pen #ink #drawing #art #artofinstagram #anatomy #heart #visualart #visualalbum #music #taylurking #repuTAYlurking

Wow! It's been a Whole DECADE (April 23, 2016) since @beyonce dropped her groundbreaking "Lemonade" visual album, giving us a musical glimpse inside her very personal world and a bold, beautiful love letter to Black womenhood. Thank you, Bey!
🖼✍️🏾 reposted from @essence We all remember where we were on April 23, 2016.
Glued to our phones and television sets, thumbs still warm from downloading the HBO app, just to see what #Beyoncé had cooking. Pressing play on #Lemonade became a collective inhale, the kind you take before your life shifts a little.
We were gagged. Jay-Z did what? The group chat was in shambles and the timelines were spinning with questions and think pieces. Something wasn’t right in that household, but neither were we, watching our own stories flicker across the screen.
What Beyoncé offered was not simply revelation, but range. She gave us anger without apology in “Don’t Hurt Yourself,” a kind of freedom in “Sorry,” and a declaration of identity in “Formation” that felt both personal and collective. But she also gave us “All Night,” a song that does not ignore the damage but chooses, deliberately, to imagine what healing might look like on the other side of it.
The album went on to earn a Grammy Award and became one of the most critically celebrated works of its time, consistently named among the greatest albums of the decade. Still, its true weight cannot be measured in awards alone.
Because Lemonade did something quieter and more lasting. It made space. For Black women to be angry, to be soft, to be unsure, to be forgiving, to be whole. It reminded us that love is not always gentle, but it can be honest. And sometimes, honesty is the beginning of everything.
ESSIES, which songs got you through?
