Word of the Day: Vituperate
vituperate: British verb to berate or rail (against) abusively; revile
The pistachio cake sitting front of Agni was decorated with fresh fruits and nuts and looked absolutely delicious, but the baker had also decorated it with leaf gold designs.
Gold leaf was cheap, but “It’s such a waste,” he mumbled. He had plenty of gold and other treasures besides, but that wasn't an unnecessary decoration, it was money, it was infrastructure and investment (and taking his friends out on the town).
He carefully peeled if off bit by bit, smoothing the cream back down with the back of a knife as best he could. Had he known it would come like this, he’d have ordered something else, but this was what he had; he wasn’t one to waste food, but even he in his little rich bubble knew it would be inappropriate to bring Shahil’s family a cake with gold leaf.
I'm not promising all of these will be good, especially as I start getting the hang of writing again, but I want to keep them here to see my improvement as time goes on :)
