In reply to your call for Wolf 359 fic prompts, hmmm .... How about Minkowski feeling that they are overdue for another talent show. After all, it's laid down in Pryce and Carter!
“What’s your opening bid going to be?” Hera asked.
Eiffel jumped. “A little warning before you sneak up on people like that!”
“Please clarify how exactly that counts as sneaking up?” Hera’s voice was coolly professional, i.e. purposely aggravating.
“Well, I didn’t know there was a speaker in here,” Eiffel grumbled.
“That’s your problem and not mine,” Hera said. “I repeat my question. Who’s opening bidding?”
“Bidding on what?” Lovelace asked, cautiously.
“On me not telling Minkowski you’re both hiding in this cupboard.”
“Come on, Hera,” Eiffel pleaded. “We’re friends. You wouldn’t betray us to the enemy, would you?”
“The Lieutenant’s been looking forward to this Talent Night,” Hera said, sternly. “She wants it to be fun.”
“Then she should have held a Testing The Armoury Contents Night,” Lovelace said. That would be fun. Rather than excruciating.”
Hera sent them a burst of offended static. “Come on. It won’t be as fun if it’s just Minkowski, me, and Jacobi.”
Eiffel boggled. “Wait, Jacobi? She’s forcing him into this? Talk about cruel and unusual POW treatment.”
“Actually, he asked to join,” Hera said. “He’s still awful and everything, but at least he’s showing team spirit.”
“Can you believe this?” Eiffel muttered.
Lovelace rolled her eyes. “It sounds like Minkowski’s got a full house, then. You kids have fun.”
“Captain!” Eiffel hissed, plaintively.
“Oh, I wouldn’t do that,” Hera said, silkily. “But this is your last chance. Or…”
“Or else we’ll let Kepler perform, and I’ll broadcast him all over the ship. There will be nowhere you can hide from it.”
There was a brief pause. “Uh… perform what?”
“Well, Officer, Captain, do you really want to find out?”
As it turned out, they absolutely did not.
