Did you say that we'd be getting a Solas- pov chapter at some point? Because I'm sure he has a lot of thoughts.
The next chapter (14) is a Solas POV. Thoughts will be had. 👀

war au, fake married, couple of your choice
going with asra/nadia with this from the arcana; the apprentice is very happy with julian. contains light spoilers from book xi, the most recent update!
Consul Valerius is not successful in his attempted coup of Nadia Satrinava, in Vesuvia. However, while not a prince, he is of equally important rank in his home country, which is much more powerful than Vesuvia is, and much closer to Vesuvia than Prakra. When he is put under house arrest and the Court plans his execution for treason, his home country declares war on Vesuvia to save the Consul’s life.
Nadia sends letters, but it is in vain; the Court goes ahead with the Consul’s execution despite Nadia’s attempts to save his life, in blatant disobedience that exposes the weakness in Vesuvia. Now, the Consul’s home country both wishes revenge for the Consul’s death and wishes to annex Vesuvia, as it is close to the country’s borders and was once prosperous from trade before the plague. The Satrinava sisters write to Prakra, which joins this war to defend its youngest Princess.
Nadia seeks direct diplomacy with the Consul’s country, and receives an invitation to visit the courts herself, “to settle this matter personally, along with your spouse if he so desires.” (The country still thinks Lucio’s alive, I guess, which is another reason they think Vesuvia is easy pickings.) This is obviously a trap, but the enemy’s armies will arrive long before Prakra’s and either sack or siege the city, to disastrous consequence; thus, direct diplomacy is Vesuvia’s last hope for survival.
However, knowing this is a trap, Nadia’s inner circle - her sisters, the apprentice, and Asra - insist on someone accompanying her, so that she will not go alone in the lion’s den. Asra volunteers, and eventually they decide that Asra will pose as Nadia’s spouse. Reluctantly, Nadia leaves Vesuvia in the hands of her sisters and the apprentice, and sets out with Asra to attempt to save her city before it is too late.
Together they must navigate the perils of a hostile foreign court to save the city they both consider home, all while reclaiming their former closeness and slowly developing romantique feelings for each other. At some point, they are betrayed by the court and locked together in their suite, Nadia is panicking because Vesuvia is under attack at this very instant, and Asra is crucial to helping her through it. That would probably be their first kiss, tbh.
Asra manages to get them out of their lavish prison before the Consul’s relatives execute them (either as revenge or as a way to demoralize Prakra, or both) and gets them both back to Vesuvia. Cue one or two roadtrip chapters, and then they arrive just after Prakra’s army, which under Nahara’s leadership had soundly routed the enemy forces. Nadia reassumes the title of Countess of Vesuvia, gets rid of the devil-worshipping court, and ushers the city into a golden age with Asra at her side. :)
bonus: asra escapes their house arrest first to scout out escape routes, comes back for nadia by climbing up her balcony a la her book ix scene (but in the dead of night and way more tense BUT NO LESS ROMANTIQUE)
send me two aus + a pairing and i’ll talk about how i’d write a fic!
HYD for the meme. 😁
Assuming this is for Hana Yori Dango:
the first character i ever fell in love with: Tsukushi was always my fave. I read the manga first and it took me ages to reconcile the fact that Tsukasa was going to be the primary love interest because I hated him.
a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: Shizuka depresses the heck out of me now. We’re supposed to admire her for abandoning her life of wealth, luxury, and celebrity to follow her dream and make her own way in the world, but it takes a massive amount of privilege to be able to do that. I don’t hate her or anything, though.
a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: Yuki/Sojiro. In the manga its clear that their relationship is just another fling and its never really addressed or even mentioned again after they sleep together.
my ultimate favourite character™: Tsukushi
prettiest character: Rui, definitely.
my most hated character: Kazuya. I utter loathe him and all male characters that have the same role in manga/anime etc. I was so happy that they left him out of the live action Japanese version because his absence only makes things better.
my OTP: Tsukushi/Tsukasa but it took a long time for me to warm up to them the first time reading the manga.
my NOTP: I don’t think there are any I hate.
favourite episode: Of the live action, which ever one has the tragic first date ending with them falling asleep in the lift.
saddest death: I don’t think anyone ever died?
favourite season: I still haven’t watched s2 of the Japanese live action, or the other live action versions, so s1.
least favourite season: I thought the anime was terrible in just about every aspect.
character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: Does anyone like Kazuya, lol?
my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: Sakurako. She is just so messed up but fascinating. The three lilies to a lesser extent, they don’t really have much personality except to show up and insult people.
my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: Rui. The women he love keep leaving him, damn it.
my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: Tsukushi/Amon Kunisawa(the fake cousin dude). It’s the wrongest wrong ship, but kind of compelling.
my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship’: Rui/Shigeru Kind of odd but I think it could work.
⭐️
For the Director’s Cut prompt.
One of my favorite chapters I’ve written for Ruins is this one, which includes the scene with Lavellan and Solas sitting under the vhenadahl. There are a lot of lines I’m happy with in that scene, but this is probably the one I love the most:
The skies above the western desert had been blue, but a soft, pale blue that was easily mistaken for grey when the sun was low in the sky. They were a blue that wanted the light to define them, but were no less beautiful for this need. And on overcast days when the clouds hung low above the dunes, the shadows mingled to form a brilliant violet unlike anything she’d ever seen before or since.
I loved how I was able to bookend it with something I’d talked about earlier in that chapter, and the way that it would point to the fun fandom debates regarding Solas’ eye color.
Other memories about this chapter: I remember writing it while sitting on the floor in our old house, laptop on my legs, earphones in, and listening to North by Sleeping At Last on repeat as loud as it would go. To me that song is about what it means to find “home” in another person, and about the constant work that goes into a loving relationship/marriage. I just wanted everything I felt while I was listening to it to pour into the chapter. Hopefully it did.
Thank you for the ask!
For WIP Wednesday:
“hand” from @vivlives
Lazily, almost without thinking, she waved a hand along the surface of the water. Energy from the Fade hurried to fulfill her vision, shielding a small area of the pool with an invisible barrier that muffled the sound of the waterfalls so they’d be able to speak normally. Solas turned his head, brow furrowed in interest, but he did not remark upon the spell and he returned his gaze to the sky.
Heart!
More than one so I got to choose!
Twice now she had kissed him with the passion that was in her heart before the sense in her head could catch up, and twice she had pushed him away. Why should he want her when he knew she might simply do it again?
vivlives replied to your post “HYD for the meme. ”
There was a manga special after the end that had Mimasaka and Makino hanging out and actually getting to know each other and I kind of shipped it.
Oh yeah I had forgotten about that.
But if we’re talking about the live action version Mimasaka/bad dancing is my OTP for him.
Haninan in Star Wars = Jolee Bindo from KotOR, I'm convinced.
Jolee Bindo is much more gruff, and was a Jedi who became disenchanted with the order; Haninan would be more like a Force User who never subscribed to their ideology in the first place.
That said, there’s a certain congruity there!
