Sami's fingertips brushed over Vix's cheek, trailed downward. She took Vix's chin in a gentle hold and leaned in. Almost close enough to kiss. Vix swallowed, her hold on Sami's hips tightening. "Before we take this any further," Sami murmured, "you should know where we stand. I will not love you. I'll treasure you, worship you, for a time. Until we go our separate ways, or for tonight, or for just this moment. I leave that in your hands." It was hard to string together a complete thought with Sami's breath fanning over Vix's lips, her hand mapping the curve of Vix's back at a leisurely pace. Vix cleared her throat. "That's surprisingly straightforward of you," she managed, only a little breathlessly. The corners of Sami's mouth quirked upward, a wry smile that was just for them. "This is the simplest dance in the world, my dear. I've no wish to complicate it." "For tonight, then," Vix agreed, and leaned up to close the last of the distance between them.
