#VIXX_2016_CONCEPTION : #ZELOS
So, I was right about one thing on my previous post regarding VIXX’s concept - they were not the gods. And that they are beings who are under the rule of a particular god. (I am actually rejoicing about this. So this is how it feels to analyze VIXX’s concepts. 😄)
Anyway, Zelos as we have read in wikipedia and other sources is the god of rivalry, jealousy, and envy. They’ve used jealousy for the concept, if the articles I’ve read are not mistaken. And some photos show a hint of rivalry. The concept film suggests that Zelos, in general, is a dark concept. Contrary to the sound and feel of the title track Dynamite.
Although I don’t think Zelos album is really dark. For now, let’s say, it’s a couple of shades lighter than darkness overload. (Whaaaat?) Okay, I’ll just assume it’s a dark shade of grey. Some elements in the teasers are symbolic and are actually the keys to the concept. Nah! I’m not talking about Taekwoon’s fake freckles. 😂
First, is the symbol for Zelos. Oh! I’ve already explained about Zelos so let’s skip to the second symbol which is the evil eye. It’s in Hakyeon’s hand and is actually the cover image of the album. I heard that there are already quite a number of people talking about illuminati because of the evil eye. Let’s just ignore them.
According to what I have read from different webpages that talks about the evil eye, the evil eye has a strong connection to jealousy and envy. Evil eye, since the ancient times is considered by a lot of cultures a curse. It harms the person that is the subject of jealousy and envy. But according to some, the curse could be avoided if the person wears or carries a talisman. The talisman is also in the design of an eye. Interestingly, in teaser photos, while Hakyeon has a tattoo of the eye in his hand, he wears an eye earring (talisman) at the same time. The evil eye might be just a superstition or a belief. And envy itself or jealousy itself might not be evil. But the harm they inflict to the person carrying them or the person they are directed to, that’s what you call evil. Thus, a dark shade of grey concept. 😂
Now that I’ve closed the case on why Zelos and evil eye are put together in one concept, I better work on what is going on in the concept film. It’s very monochromatic. And gloomy and what is with the dismembered mannequins? Why is Hakyeon sitting in the edge of that weird box setting like he’s started it all?
Oh! And why did I explain Zelos and evil eye this long when I can just say they both refer to jealousy or envy? 😂😂😂
