Voltron panels at Sacanime (Jan 5-6) part 1: most emotional scene

So I didn’t take notes during the panels but I’m just going to post everything I remember from them, starting with this.

The panel consisted of Kimberly Brooks (Allura), Josh Keaton (Shiro), AJ Locascio (Lotor), Neil Kaplan (Zarkon), and Erica Luttrell (Acxa)

When asked about the most emotional scene for them:

Kimberly: Allura’s death was very emotional for her. She had gotten really close to Allura, saying she was the best role she’s ever had, and couldn’t even bring herself to watch the 8th season because of her death. So doing those scenes and coming to terms with that was emotional for her. (Though I don’t remember this exactly, but I feel like at some point it got mentioned that perhaps Allura isn’t exactly “dead” but somewhere else/in the stars or something like that.) Kimberly also remembers Allura saying goodbye to Alfor’s AI in the first season as an emotional moment, because it was so sad that it seemed like Allura just had to keep losing everything.

Josh: the fight with Keith in season 6 was emotional because of the back and forth between Keith trying to get through to him but then having to accept that Shiro was gone. He also said Shiro’s return to Earth and realizing that Adam was dead and that things were not how it was when they left was emotional.

AJ: the scene from the flashback where Zarkon destroys the planet Lotor was taking care of was very heartbreaking, because those people were relying on Lotor to help them so AJ couldn’t imagine how terrible it must have been for him. AJ also said it was emotional for him when he found out that Lotor was going to die (not sure if he was referring to season 6 or 8), because before that I guess he was not aware Lotor was going to kick the bucket. He then had to scream a lot which was somewhat cathartic and JDS apparently had him redo the some of the screams so they were more throat shedding (rip AJ’s vocal cords).

Erica: the scene where Acxa reaches out to help Zethrid in season 8 was very meaningful for her as a moment that really showed Acxa’s development as a character.

Neil: Zarkon’s most emotional moment could be summed up in two words: “Hello Bob”. (he said it in the Zarkon voice just like in the show, it was awesome)
