Voltron: Legendary Defender S01E06 - Taking Flight
< 6.60 | masterpost | 6.62 >
Headcanons for Krolia that are suspiciously thought out enough to imply that this is all I think about:
She grew up in a Galran colony. Her father was the chairman of defense for the colony and her mom was a retired sergeant turned military drill instructor. She had an older brother in the army. So a very nuclear, patriotic family. She was close with her family.
She had aspirations to be a military engineer as a young girl and enjoyed playing outside. She had a childhood best friend named Yorak.
She'd frequently play with the native children of the planet she resided on. It is because of this that she stumbled across a secret murder/trafficking scene led by one of her father's colleagues (I have the lore thought out but its too long for this post). Because she's young, unhinged, and angry, she blows up his office. This consequently kills the man and she runs away from home.
Thus Krolia has begun her independent rebellion against the Galra, which consisted of stealing weapons and going around blowing things up. She's eventually caught and interrogated by the Blades.
She joins the blades as she does not believe she can go back and she has so much anger in her heart.
I'd like to believe that Krolia was a very angry teenager, and that it'd be enough to blind her and make her do some regretful things.
Prior to the Galra capturing the Red Lion, I'd also like to believe that she was a firm disbeliever of Voltron. Krolia would look down on it as a child's tale and a coping mechanism for people who wanteed an excuse not to fight their hardest. She believed that no one was going to save them and that they would die in the war.
The Empire and the Blades located the Red Lion at the same time. Krolia is on the mission to retrieve it, and due to her going back to save a wounded Blade member, they fail the mission and nearly die. The Red Lion saves Krolia's life (wierd lion magic that transcends time and carries Keiths sentiments from the future idk) but then gets captured by the Galra.
Krolia spends the rest of her pre-Earth time searching for the other Lions.
During this time, she runs into her brother on a mission as he is a Galran soldier. He tells her that their dad fell ill while searching for her and died. They fight each other and he dies (parallel to Keith fighting shiro but ending differently)
After betraying her empire and also being seen as an enemy anywhere else due to her race, Krolia didn't believe there was a single planet in the universe she could call home. This is why she was so surprised to find Earth.
Texas Kogane and Keith were sincerely enough to reconsider her place in the universe as a soldier. Unfortunately the war had other plans.
Having a family on Earth shifted her mentality away from "defeating the Galra" and towards "defending the universe."
Krolia threw herself into work to cope with leaving her family behind.
Her mom dies of loneliness and Krolia doesn't find out till years after when that colony is liberated.
She dedicated a whole lot of blade work towards keeping Earth safe and away from the war.
okay that's enough for now! Lmk if yall want more or send me asks about it idk
So I was thinking about Voltron and the first flight in the blue lion when they got hurled into deep space, and I got to thinking about something, but I couldn't remember the detail for sure, so I looked it up, and:
What is Keith grabbing?? Do . . . do the Voltron lions have "Oh Shit!" handles???
Tamura Yumi's Blue Lion (1986)
This weekend, we bring you a little fun 80s oneshot from the one and only Tam-Tam!
Although this oneshot was first published in 1986 in Deluxe Bessatsu Shoujo Comic's September 30th issue, it was only compiled in flowers Garden - Gensou no Meikyuu in 2009. Only Sakumi Yoshino's Dragon Spirit from this book was scanlated by Golden Roze. So you are looking at something rare here thanks to amtt's (RIP) scans.
Huge thanks to Key for battling the physical scan demons, Grumpykit for bracing for another very random pick by us, and shielshi for being the MVP in all our little projects.
DDL MangaDex
Also friendly reminder that Hagio's contribution from the same book, Kimi wa Utsukushii Hitomi, was previously scanlated by Box Head Idiot, and it's a beautiful work. Don't forget to read that as well.

(If this gets enough notes, I might draw a small comic. We’ll see)
Lance is ambidextrous? Sure, I can run miles with that one. Maybe add a little klance while I’m at it ;).
