Love and War was pretty good, though I don't really buy into Ace falling that deeply in love with someone she's known for three days. Also Benny basically going with the Doctor because he needs someone to rein in the oncoming storm adfflkjvknd! My horrible little Seven.
What’s your guilty (pleasure?) doctor who confession? My Doctor Who confession is that I have more than a 100 BBC EDA books that I got from second hand book stores or charity shops that have been sitting on my shelf for like three years but not read any of them because I’m too busy reading the Virgin New Adventure series as well as the Benny ones but I’m hoping to make my way round to the EDA ones next year xD
Ok but that puts a whole new spin on the Doctor wanting to be ginger...
Fun things I learned from John Peel today:
At the first Doctor Who con ever, Jon Pertwee wouldn't get off the stage to let Tom Baker have his turn doing a panel.
John Peel got started writing comic strips for DWM's first few issues.
When he started writing Dalek books, he asked Terry Nation for any discarded or half written Dalek stories to work from, and Terry's wife mailed him every file he had with the word "dalek" attached and accidentally sent some really random stuff.
Peel had outlined War of the Daleks as a 4-part serial for Seven before the show was canceled, later adapted it for Eight with the proviso from Terry that he had to bring back Skaro because Terry was furious they destroyed it without asking him.
He calls the sixth Doctor Sixie!
He was upset he couldn't write the final confrontation with the Timewyrm and had to hand her over to other authors. And they didn't give him any information about books 2-4 so he had no idea how the story ended until it was published.
What is your favourite episode of the 7th Doctors?

Oooh Transit was pretty good! Interesting choice to make Benny a non-character in her first story as part of the TARDIS crew, but Kadiatu totally made up for it, I love her! I'm verrrry intrigued about the Pythia connection too... And it was nice to see Seven being dark and manipulative without crossing the line into indifference to people's pain like he did in Love and War.
Nightshade took its time getting anywhere, and the Doctor was frustratingly passive. It was good enough that I finished reading it, but that's about all I can say.
