CAMPAIGN INTRO - THE AKRON ENGAGEMENT

In the 41st Millennium, the Imperium spans over a billion worlds in the name of their god-like Emperor. Consisting of human soldiers and genetically engineered warriors, the Forces of the Imperium protect its foundations from threats both outside and in. The latest threat to the Imperium came from a distant star cluster near the Eastern Fringe. The race is young and technologically advanced. They call themselves the Tau. In just 2,000 years, the Tau Empire has expanded at an alarming rate; from being just a primiative race who were expected to seal their own fate in a bitter civil war, to a unified race guided by the mysterious Ethereals. The first human contact with the Tau saw a bitter campaign, known as the Damocles Gulf Crusade, that outnumbered and slaughtered many Tau, but a far greater threat soon called for a ceasefire. While the majority of the Imperial Forces accepted the ceasefire, some governors and commanders continued their war with the Tau. One such case saw a Governor of a large moon called Akron. While Akron is merely an annoyance to the Tau Empire, it is of strageic value to the Imperium from where they can launch future attacks deep into the Tau Empire. The Tau have begun a daring assault to neutralise the threat on Akron. They have taken control of Vogen, the major city of the moon but now need to take the city in order to gain an advantage over the moon. However, the Imperial Forces have sent out a distress signal from 2 locations... The Tundra Guard Chapter of the Space Marines have answered their call. Their mission is to assess the situation and to secrue the moon's war asset... a Baneblade.
