WEST OAKLAND
by Vogue TDK
Bay Area artist, calligrapher, illustrator, and designer Norman Chuck, aka Vogue, trained at San Francisco's Academy of Art and @WescoverApp says his work is defined by "clean designs, sharp calligraphy, street life, and hip hop." The diversity of Oakland is reflected in its long history with graffiti wrting—receiving mixed reactions from the community—but for several years Vogue and the other artists of the TDK Crew have been on a mission demonstrate that graffiti is not just a nuisance but real art. Taking time from some of the more massive beautification projects Vogue has undertaken, in 2015 he took a couple of days out to work with Fuming Guerilla Production and added this remarkable piece at W Grand Ave and Mandela Pkwy in West Oakland. In 2017 Vogue returned to restore the lower portion of the work from the lower jaw down. @vogue_tdk/
