well, we have an appointment with ENT next week (that's ear nose & throat clinic, not a giant duck), but meanwhile our voice is getting harder to use (our last covid booster in December broke our vocal folds), so we downloaded a free phone app called Text To Speech! and it's actually really good
tere's a big range of voices and languages, you can change the pitch and speed, you can save favourite phrases to save typing time (it'll also show you "recent phrases" that you haven't saved in case you need to repeat yourself), you can choose talk as I type or by sentence or paragraph
oh and it works over the phone too, which is the most important thing for us, as our anxiety in phone calls makes our voice even worse - we haven't tried this out yet, apparently you don't hear your "voice", only the person at the other end does, unless they have you on speaker
anyway, big up for accessibility apps! we chose a Scottish woman's voice called Moira, because all the English (England) voices sound too Home Counties Karen
