Well, I was almost the #VoiceOfTheOcean 🎤! For fun, not completely knowing what it was, I auditioned the second night of our cruise for their Voice showcase. I was set on singing Sinatra's "My Way"--my karaoke hit--despite my mom's saying it's over-sung. Well, she was right, someone else 2 spots before had put it on the list, so, on a whim, I chose one of my all-time faves, Let it Be. Well, I followed some tough acts, but I brought some energy, dancing, jokes (in the interview before), and an awesome air guitar solo. It wasn't my best singing 🎶, but the crowd dug it and I was voted in the top 7 (of 21... top third, pretty good odds I guess)! But there were some really good singers. And some def stinkers... Like they stunk of 🍹, so they did not sing as well. What was really entertaining was I had a number of ppl on the boat afterward call me by name and tell me good job 😁 Anyway, I wouldn't have realized, but it was a WHOLE thing, like the real #theVoice (approved by the show's producers, no less) and we'd perform the last night at sea! We had a rehearsal with a live band 🎸🥁 and some "coaches" (the performers from the shows on board... They mainly just told us 'good job' haha), a tech rehearsal, and then a performance with the chairs and judges and everything! It was a little nerve-wracking but a lot of fun. 🕺🏻 Well my final performance was decent and I had a lengthy banter with a couple of the judges (both hilarious, one is an actual very 😂 comedian @carlososcarcomedy). I chose Carlos, but so did the eventual winner (who I predicted), so I wasn't of the final 3 who you could vote for. So I missed out on the little trophy, but I had a great time and the compliments afterwards continued. A major confidence builder for me! Thank God for how He's gifted me and that I could enjoy that experience and hopefully bless others!! 🙏🏼 Was so great to have my kids see that and to make my mama proud.
